Confidence in 5 seconds
Here’s a brain hack: confidence can be built in just 5 seconds. Mel Robbins (maybe) created the 5 Second Rule. No, I'm not talking about dropping a blueberry on the floor and scooping it up real quick without getting cooties — It's a motivation to movement hack: when you want to do something hard, count 5-4-3-2-1 and move before your brain talks you out of it. She talks about how she slithers out of her bed in the morning... but that she DOES it so she doesn't snooze. No negotiation. Just a countdown and a slither. Studies show that hesitation triggers fear circuits in the brain, but quick action builds confidence through repetition. Because you're proving you can do the thing! Even if it's a little thing. I do this for dishes, business admin, workouts, that call I don't wanna make... it gets me out of hemming and hawing and into action. Boom! Now I've shown myself again that I am a woman of follow-through. And that boosts my confidence. Next time you’re hesitating — launch with a countdown. And watch your confidence skyrocket 🚀

So true! When jumping of a high place into water you may know you’re safe but it’s still so scary to do it! I tried this method this weekend when rock climbing and jumping into water. So helpful to not get stuck on top of a rock feeling trapped!

@Dana Andrews it's so scary the first time!! But practice takes it from scary to fun and for things like chores or getting out of bed, it becomes habit so you no longer think about how much you don't want to do it.
Quote from James Clear
"Praise others. It will bring them peace of mind. Do not expect others to praise you. It will bring you peace of mind." - James Clear He wrote Atomic Habits which is an incredible book for anyone wanting to change behavior. Basically an updated version of Tiny Habits by another author. I like this quote because its better to give than to receive. Yet, every time I give, I still receive. What a gift! I often play a game when I go to the grocery store. I make a goal of 3 to 10 compliments or however many times of asking how someone's day has truly been. I always walk out with way more than just groceries. Highly recommend.

What an amazing goal! I recently have been in the habit of complimenting anyone as soon as the kind thought pops in my head. Many friends think nice things about each other, but don’t always say them. I told someone new I thought they were a good friend and listener to those around them and he lit up. The next day he camp up to me and said he I made him feel seen, recognized and appreciated. He emphasized how much it meant to him to hear those words. Something that takes very little effort and time on my part was so meaningful to him and truly brightened his mood. Looking forward to a new friend now!!
Fun Fact Friday
150 is the magic number. Fact: Adults who get 150–300 min/week of moderate cardio + 2+ days of strength see big gains in health, energy, sleep, and mood. (PubMed, www.heart.org) Try 5×30-min walks + 2 lift days this week. And if this is too much, break it into even smaller increments that you know you can handle. Small steps, big wins. 🗓️💪

My Apple Watch has been a good motivator to help me keep track of minutes and how strenuous my workout was! 150 minutes is the CDC guidelines for a healthy exercise goal!
