@Chris Muggleton yes, I should have said “poor quality “ and not cheap. The yarn I used to make the scarf and hat was $5 at Ollie’s discount store. It’s Red Heart Super Saver Jumbo 14oz. Nice quality, and only $5 each. The yarn that I used as my waste yarn was of unknown origin (probably from my mother-in-law’s stash that I inherited about 20 years ago) and has a strange texture and “frayed” easily. It split on the needles and wouldn’t drop off the needle, resulting in two strands of yarn on the needle that wouldn’t roll off as the machine turned. Some strands were even wound around the needle. Perhaps part of my problem was that the yarn is probably 30+ years old. 😣 I saw in the training video that @Kim Thompson-Pinder had certain brands that she recommended. Do you find that those brands gave consistent results? I plan to make future purchases of only Lionheart. That seemed to be Kim’s favorite, so I’ll go with that when I need more yarn. For now, I have a stash of various brands that I bought on sale from JoAnn’s when they were going out of business 😢. Many of them are too bulky for the Addi. I’ll just crochet them. The knitting machine is making me lazy. I don’t want to crochet anymore, I just want to run the Addi.

@Chris Muggleton thanks for the information. I was looking at a yarn winder and thinking that I can just hand wind my yarn. But I can see the benefit of a wound ball with the ability to pull yarn from the center. I pull my yarn free from my hand wound ball with my left hand while I control the tension with my right hand while the motor cranks my Addi. Using a yarn ball winder would simplify my Addi knitting. Especially with my 22 needle Addi which I have to hand crank. On the 22 needle I pull the yarn free from the ball, hold tension and crank, stop cranking, pull yarn free from ball, hold tension and crank. I’ve just talked myself into ordering a ball winder from Caydo. I just ordered the electric I-cord knitting machine yesterday, because after watching a few videos on how it works and what the I-cord can be used for, I just had to have it. So now I’ll be ordering the ball winder. And following you for more of these tips. Thanks, again for the tip. I know that @Kim Thompson-Pinder advised to wind our yarn on a winder and pull from the center, but it didn’t sink in as to why until I read Aura’s post and your comments. Lesson learned, just listen to Kim from the beginning. I can also see where the I-cord knitting machine would function optimally using a Caydo ball spinner.

@Dd Stoller Thank you for your well wishes. Sometimes we’re just too hard on ourselves. I’m too old to carry all that baggage around anymore, so I just tossed it in the dumpster. I used to stress myself out about a lot of things. It just wears ya out, puts wrinkles on your face, and gives you gray hair. Toss that negative energy into the trash bin (I needed a whole dumpster).
