Expansive Recognition - the antidote to Systemic Shame
Continuing on into the epic book Unlearning Shame by Devon Price, made a breakdown of Expansive Recognition as an antidote to Systemic Shame, it feels like exactly what I am doing in my work with myself and others, just continually bringing in this validation and permission and recognition to be an animal body with needs and weaknesses and challenges and desires, how powerful it is! And I'm SUPER excited that he brings in DBT as a tool of radical acceptance!! So grateful! Values of Expansive Recognition: - acceptance - vulnerability - coalition building - compassion - humility

This is good stuff. Once you see it you can't unsee it. Or once I feel how it undermines and informs pretty much everything I can't un-feel it. The advantage, I think, is to use it. How many things am I doing, participating in just so I can get ahead of feeling shame. Preemptively participating in stuff I don't really even value so I don't feel it (shame). The wild part is that at some point shame isn't even needed because I am already dis-regulated (living inauthentically??? ) in an attempt to not feel something that isn't even required. What am I doing just because I think I can game the system and get ahead of its controlling/corrosive properties? How can I get access to my own internal strength/regulation instead of trying to prove it to an external force? Do systems weaken, fall once we individually choose regulation . . . Some rhetorical stuff here, but also the work that needs to be done.
My #1 spiritual strategy
It's not talking to ETs or angels or even meditation, it's just taking care of my animal body. It's boring and repetitive and never ending but it makes the most significant difference in my spiritual and mental health. The PLEASE skill is the bedrock of my life and having this puppy has really helped cement my understanding of how important it is. When you have a dog you never fail to give them fresh food and water, take them on walks, play with them and get them adequate sleep. These basics are the front line of defense against all kinds of spiritual and mental malaise and if they are not happening, it is unreasonable to expect for sanity to be present, let alone spiritual satisfaction. So let me break it down: Pl- treat physical illness E- balanced eating A- avoid mood altering substances S- adequate sleep E- balanced exercise If you feel like you're not sure if you're keeping up with these or want to reconnect with them but find it overwhelming or hard to do, tracking it can be incredibly helpful. I have a daily tracking sheet I use on a Google sheet which is super simple but there are endless apps out there. Tracking increases awareness and motivation and connects you with the present moment which increases a sense of contentment. When we put the animal body first, the spiritual becomes more balanced, becomes something to add sweetness to life and less a desperate attempt to save us from the agony of being a person, the old "chop wood, carry water" is pretty right on. xo, z

๐Ÿ’ฏ Yes! I'm earth bound. I want to get "better" at being in this body. ๐Ÿ’ƒ
Trust
Wondering what everyone's daily practice/non-negotiable is that you've used to build trust between yourself and your nervous system. Mine: First meal of the day is packed with the most nutrition available.

@Marianne Keller I like this and I agree that negotiation-energy is exhausting. Trusting that there is a choice, some flexibility, etc is powerful. ๐Ÿ’œ
Retrogrades in your birth chart
Hi all! I am learning I was born under a mars retrograde. And I'm curious about others born with retrogrades in their charts what your experiences are like when the planets go into the microwave for you. https://astrostyle.com/cosmic-calculators/retrograde-planets-checker/

I just used the calculator you linked to discover that I only have one planet retrograde in my natal chart, Pluto. Pluto in Capricorn was a bear for me in many respects so when it would progress out and then retrograde back into Cap I would have a harder time.
Mental health and reality creation
I was really happy to see this honest video from the reality transurfing teacher Renee Garcia...yes everything is mindset and mental health challenges are human and real and deserve qualified support...if you're struggling with anxiety or depression or any other aspect of mental health, putting the shame or pressure of "it's your fault, you should just shift your mindset" will not help. The nervous system in a defense state (fight/flight/freeze/fawn) does not have access (amygdala hijack) to the frontal lobe where we can develop new thoughts, imagine, create, etc. Understanding and supporting the nervous system is crucial so we can shift back to our executive function and actually do the self inquiry/therapy, etc. That self inquiry lays the foundation for creation. But creation from the defense state just results in repetition of what is and self defeat. Glad people are acknowledging this, we all deserve access to spiritual freedom but can't ignore this 500 million year old vagus nerve and all it's programming ๐Ÿ’•

I've always appreciated Renee's ability to open up in this way. She is an excellent student of Reality Transurfing and also willing to express how she needed something more. I'm finding that as I explore how to develop a more adaptable nervous system through various practices and awareness around my patterns, there will be no regulation when guilt/shame is present. We may convince ourselves that we can, but it just becomes an exercise in "by-passing." I think a lot of the fixation on "calmness" that we're seeing in the "manosphere" currently is to use the emerging understanding of the vagus nerve as yet another way to by-pass our emotions. It won't work :) and I think Renee admitting the limits of RT illustrates that perfectly.
