FULL Sewing Course starts this week!
Happy Monday sewing friends! I'm really excited to announce that the classroom is getting a makeover - and starting this week I'll be taking you through the FULL *beginner's* sewing course - absolutely free! ⭐If you're willing to commit and follow along with each lesson, you are going to learn enough to be able to sew bags, easy clothing and all kinds of fun projects⭐ 📅 I'll be posting your tasks and lessons every 3 days. The full course will be available in the classroom once we're done. 📩 You will receive an email notification with the new lessons every 3 days - you can turn emails off in your profile settings if you want to opt out. Here's what you'll learn: - How to use your sewing machine - Machine functions and stitches - Basic sewing skills practice (corners, curves, gathering, sewing straight etc.) - All about FABRIC 😍 grainlines, types, fabric weight etc. - Taking care of your sewing machine And, OF COURSE you'll sew something! ✅ VOTE BELOW to tell me what we should sew together! 🚨 IMPORTANT to know: You will NOT be sewing a whole bunch of samples like a collar / zipper / facing samples. Sorry, that's not my teaching vibe 🤷‍♀️ These serve absolutely NO purpose in my opinion and you're better off jumping right in and sewing an actual project that you can show off and make over and over again. HOW IS IT DIFFERENT FROM THE 3-DAY COURSE? - That one is a fun, short challenge that gets you an instant *win* by sewing a simple project. It doesn't include quite as much detail and you're likely asking WHAT'S NEXT when you're done with it! - This full course will teach you the foundational skills you need to confidently start your next big project! Will you be joining us? Drop a gif or emoji below if you're excited 😍

🧵 We're sewing PJ Bottoms Together — Starting TOMORROW!
Are you excited for the Beginner's Course?? From the poll in the last post it's clear - you want to sew PJ Bottoms ✅ GREAT CHOICE! I absolutely love teaching this as a first project because: - You'll learn very important skills for all your next projects - You'll finish with a a real, wearable pair of shorts or long pants - It's really as easy as sewing a tote bag or something else 'beginner friendly' - You're going to feel SO motivated to keep going and maybe sewing your own clothes won't be as scary 🤩 When I first started sewing, I didn't make pillowcases or tote bags. I jumped straight into clothes because that's what I actually wanted to make. And I've always believed even an absolute beginner can learn by making clothes from the start ... which is why I'm usually trolled in other sewing communities - it's a bit of an unpopular opinion 😉 HOW TO JOIN IN: Here's what we're doing over the next 10 days: - Every other day I'll drop a new lesson right here in the community. - You'll work through it in your own time, practice the skills - and by the end — you'll have a finished pair of shorts you actually made yourself. One more thing... 👀 If sewing your own wardrobe has been on your mind for a while — my Sew Your Look programme is opening again in March! It's a 12-week beginner-friendly course where you'll sew 6 real garments and finally build a wardrobe full of clothes you actually love wearing. Keep an eye out — I'll share more details soon! 🙌 But first — introduce yourself below! 👇 Tell us: What do you most want to sew one day? Let's get to know each other before we dive in! 🧵

Hi! I'm a beginner and eventually I'm hoping to be able to sew some awesome clothes that don't look like I made them 😄
Day 2 : Sewing 101
If you missed Day 1, you can catch up here. (←click). We're going through the beginner's sewing course together. New tasks are posted every 3 days, and we'll sew a project together once everyone has complete task 2 (day 2). Task 2 : Your next task is to build some confidence in front of your sewing machine! Before we dive into a project, give yourself a chance to warm up and see how your machine is behaving. Practicing a few stitches helps you spot (and fix) issues early. Not sure what all those functions and stitches mean? Find the Machine Functions + Stitches video with downloadable PDFs HERE >>>MACHINE FUNCTIONS AND STITCHES<<< Most “machine problems” are usually one of these: - Incorrect threading - Wrong or blunt needle - Dust and lint build-up ❎Tension is rarely the true culprit, but if you need to adjust it slightly, I’ve added a tension video for you to watch. >>>SEWING MACHINE TENSION<<< ___________________________________________________________________________________________________ 🌱 HOW to practice? You can print the PDF stitch practice sheets if you like, but I recommend using fabric scraps. Fabric moves and behaves like the real thing — paper doesn’t. Use a contrasting thread so you can see what’s going on. And if you’re nervous about sewing straight, I’ve added a video with tips.
