I use a SD-80 sound module or their sound canvas by Exirol and it works really good. Roland is working still for many years. Like electronic toys for adults?

I also run the Proteuse FX, 1, EMU, SD-80 Edirol, SC-55, SC-88ST, UA-100 and the Roland GI-20 with the GK–3. Besides the E-MU (PC card), I run Sound blaster Audigy cards for the rest. There's more and some are up for sale because I bought duplicates like the SC-55 and the SC-88ST. I write most of my tunes using the Roland BR-80 and drums, (besides the other sound board modules) I still use live drums mixed on top of 2 Alesis drum modules, making me the overkill soundboard man. The PC can run Abelton Live ver. 9, Cool Edit 2.02, Cake Walk for Guitar, TAB Edit, Finale for Guitar Sony and and more. Since 1991 I started with Atari ST1040e and never stopped except writing more music. But, for now I'm getting my mid-tower AMD and Windows 2000 and stop using upgrades while the software I loved stopped working soon when DOS based systems stopped working. That will not due and I'm reversing back to when everything used to work with mild to no real problems. Once done, I'll work to selling the over lapping modules, handmade instruments and much more and start up again to write tunes, and sell the fun stuff. Pictures are available and I'm not an AI but they are messing with false advertising and I find that extremely scary with Halloween coming up!
MIDI or VSTs
How do you feel about VSTs do you use them in your DAWs or do you stick to traditional rackmount or pedalboard for your effects?? Are you using any MIDI peripherals, i like how they enhance the DAW experince..

I've used both VST's and DSW in order to make effects or reproduce analog sounds best to suit the song in the can in order to record like I was recording with more musicians than me by myself! Think (my guess) like Paul McCartney or solo musicians recording in layers and leave you with the feeling you're hearing more than yourself alone, then that makes better records with imagination to separate you from the other imaginery players. I made better recordings by listening and playing with other players to learn how to approach and playing with engineering better recordings by hearing others first.

Id have to pass on that, I'm an old 68 with medical problems and lately the pain is having it's way with me. Cheers.
amp discovery
if you dont have the budget for a spendy amp and you have a 2x12 or 4x12 cab laying around you may want to consider this lol guy..i tried the zombie ii from a buddy of mine..but had my marshall cab..though its only 20 watts, has a single tube in it..has bluetooth also..and an added feature, effects loop..its 8 ohms but will do a 16 no problem..but it sounds wonderful..ill try and get a sound check on it next

Even a cheap tube amp of any maker is a good start with 30 to 50 watts output for small performances. I paid $200 for a Bugera 50 watts at GC and only changed the power tubes once and that was it and it's really a great first tube amp since 1982 when stop using them until 2020 and it's fun to have it back again playing through JBL's for speakers the 70s and the 90s also. I'm old and once a decent player for awhile.
Guitar addiction
Does anyone else suffer from buying guitars when they are way underpriced? I know I have enough guitars, but it’s so hard to turn down a super deal. Please tell me I’m not alone. Lately I’ve made a promise to myself that for every guitar I buy, I have to sell one. My latest buy, an Ibanez Acoustic Electric on FB Marketplace for $50. In return I sold my prized Gretsch for $450.

Marry a lady who plays and sings in tune. Then fight over them! Mine is a Cantor. Truth!
Home Studio Recording
Do any of you do any home studio recording? If so, PC or MAC and what software do you use?

I'm doing it to save money and no more upgrade costs. I really had a lot of time thinking small to let it grow organic. Just a thought?

I always have my Roland BR-80, 8-chan. digital recorder with an additional 8 drop down since recordings per each channel to create 64 channels of ideas per recordings. For the PC in use Abelton 9 Live. The PCs are AMD 3 & FM Im building again and run on older versions of Windows. I've been busy.

I've played string instruments for 50 years and enjoyed everything I've done.
