🌀 Just Published My First Substack Essay & Would Love Your Reflections
Hey everyone 👋 I’ve just published my first piece on Substack, and I wanted to share it here with you, not as a self-promo, but as an invitation into dialogue. The essay is called: “When Healing Becomes a Performance: A Letter to the Spiritually Overexposed” It’s a reflection on the rising tension I’ve been sensing in spiritual spaces, between genuine integration and performative branding… especially when it comes to sharing pain, teaching, and “living our truth” online. Here’s the link if you feel called to read: https://open.substack.com/pub/gioana/p/when-healing-becomes-a-performance?r=21qvu6&utm_medium=ios What I’d love from you: - Any reflections or honest feedback on the piece - Your own experiences navigating the “performance” layer of online spirituality - And also, please if you’ve been using Substack: what’s your experience been like? I’m new to the platform and curious how others are approaching it Grateful to be in a space that values depth and realness. 🙏 With clarity,

@Philip Oplatka Thank you, Philip, for clarifying. I hear you. For me, clarity and expression don’t come from a place of performance. They come from something deeper, a need to name what I feel, to put shape around what’s often left unspoken. I don’t write to be seen in a certain way. But yes, sometimes I do want to be seen fully, it’s only human, and I’m not illuminated(yet 😅). And I think that’s okay too. I understand your point about simplicity. For me, simplicity sometimes looks more like raw honesty than silence. Wishing you steadiness in your return to yourself, as I continue to walk my own way.

@Teresa Brown thank you so much, Theresa, your words carry so much heart and lived wisdom. I really feel your journey in what you shared, especially that part about over-explaining and justifying. I resonate deeply. And yes 🙌 not being healed, fixed, or broken, simply honest, truth anchored. That’s the space I’m drawn to as well. I really appreciate you meeting the piece in that place.

Welcome, Alex 🌿 Your intro speaks volumes, arriving through art and reflection and not performance. The line “As your mind is holy, the mind of others is also holy” really landed for me. A gentle, needed reminder. Grateful to have your presence here. Looking forward to what unfolds. 🌌

Do you believe we, our souls, are immortal?

Yes!
We are looking for land... (help?) 🌄🌱🌏
For the past 5 years I've been dreaming about building an off grid sanctuary of sovereignty, a hub where leaders and revolutionaries can come together and be productive as fuck, while living and breathing peace. Well... I'm at the stage now in my journey where this reality is coming closer and closer to manifesting, and I am officially, with my team, looking for land to lock off this project. We've scouted a few countries already... Now we find ourselves in Bali, and the hunt continues. I am sharing this because I see this as something we create together. A true New Earth civilization exists in community, with the people coming together. Many of you in this community also have a lot of expertise and experience already, so please share below. I'm very new to this world and have loads to learn! Also, where should we buy land? Where would you recommend? Comment below!! Big love, The Future is Coming.

While I completely understand why Bali is high on your list as its rich, vibrant, sacred l, I also feel called to offer a different perspective, one that might not be on your radar yet. Romania 🇷🇴 I know, it’s not as “on-brand” as Bali might seem, but hear me out. There’s a raw, untamed beauty here. Vast green lands, untouched forests, sacred mountains, fertile soil, powerful water sources. Places where time slows down and the Earth still speaks. It’s not oversaturated. Not overly Westernized. Not inflated in cost. It’s still deeply accessible. People here are warm, grounded, rooted in ancestral memory, and there’s space(real space) for building something true and regenerative. Energetically, Romania holds something ancient. You feel it in the land, in the silence, in the mountains. And practically speaking, it’s in Europe, close to everything, connected, yet still sovereign in many ways. If this resonates at all, I’d love to share more. There are actual regions I have in mind that are breathtaking and could hold this vision beautifully. Just planting a seed. 🌱 Sometimes what’s less expected is exactly where new earth can rise. https://www.instagram.com/share/_flFwyNFJ https://www.instagram.com/share/BAL6N4nP3C

@Jonas Henrich glad to hear that. I can’t express enough how beautiful this country is, and I am not subjective 😇
The Illusion of Being Awake
Lately something has been crossing my mind again and again… It’s this pattern I keep seeing, especially in what we call “the spiritual community” (a term I honestly cringe at sometimes, but you know what I mean). We often mistake tools for transcendence. People start doing things that do have power(ayahuasca, shamanic rituals, therapy, moon ceremonies, plant medicine, breathwork) whatever fits their belief system in that moment. And yes, they feel something. Because for the first time, they’re no longer numb. And that’s beautiful. But here’s the trap: the ego creeps in and whispers, “You’re awake now.” “You’ve made it.” “You’re conscious.” But really… what they had was just a spark, a glimpse. And instead of staying humble, devoted, open, they crown themselves “healers”, “space holders”, “awakened beings”… all while still deeply ruled by ego, projection, performance, and shadow. I’m not speaking from above them cause I’ve been there. After my first dark night of the soul(and many more since then) I had sparks of light too. But I also have deep shadow. I’m still working through it. I probably always will be. That’s the path. That’s what it means to walk it for real. And that’s what breaks my heart is seeing all these “conscious” circles full of unconsciousness. Seeing rituals done for validation, not devotion. Seeing people bypass their deepest wounds while calling themselves illuminated. We don’t become conscious by doing a few ceremonies or sitting in a circle. We become conscious by confronting the unconscious again and again. With brutal honesty. With devotion. With humility. This isn’t about calling people out. It’s about waking us all up to the truth: Consciousness is not an identity. It’s a moment-to-moment choice. And the moment you think you’ve arrived… you probably just took another step into the dark.

@Jonas Henrich feel you so deeply in this. That space between what you know and what you feel you’re not yet fully embodying, I know it well. I have lived there too. And sometimes I still visit. But what if the fear of being called out is just the echo of our own high standards? What if we can show up as we are, honest, in process, unfinished, and that alone becomes medicine for someone else who is also not there yet? Because let’s be honest, who really is? People do not need our perfection. They need our presence. They need our willingness to walk the path and speak from the middle of it, not just from the finish line. And I truly believe that hypocrisy is pretending. But what you are doing is the opposite. You are aware, you are in integrity, and you are choosing discernment, not fear. That is not hypocrisy. That is wisdom. Keep feeling into when it is time to speak and when it is time to stay silent. Both are powerful. But do not stay invisible just because you are still becoming. We all are. Sending love ✨

@Chelsea Brianna, thank you. This landed deep. You just put into words what I’ve felt circling in me but hadn’t yet named, especially the part about black and white judgment being a trauma response disguised as discernment. That hit. And yes, I feel how easily we can hide behind the story of “I’m not ready” as a way to avoid exposure, responsibility, or the fear of being misunderstood. This reminder to move from the mind into the heart and not to find answers, but alignment, is what I needed today. I’d really love to join the next Women’s Circle in October. It would be beautiful to meet and share space. 💜
