Live session tomorrow
Hope everyone has had a lovely weekend, and a great mother's day (if you're in the UK) 💐 Tomorrow we have our second live session for March: Practising Regulation Last week I covered the cognitive side and talked about what regulation is, co-evolution, co-regulation and emotional contagion. Tomorrow's session is an embodiment of these things, where we will practice some simple tools to help you co-regulate with your animals. Looking forward to seeing you tomorrow at 6.30pm UK time. As always, if you can't make it live, the session will be recorded.

What is the time again?
A good day
Do you ever have one of those days where you really feel like you've done the absolute best for your animal? Progress not perfection. That's what this space is for. Share your good animal days here (with pictures) so we can support each others wins. Walked your reactive dog without them barking? A good day Your rescue snuggled up to you for the first time? A good day Share those wins, no matter how big or small 🥳

This video is just one of many good days that I have with our dog she's one of our 6 sanctuary babies she has come a long way when it comes to respecting the space of the cats because she is the only dog when we first started bringing cats around she was a young pup and there was no regulation and no matter what we did she couldn't understand that her actions were scaring the cats and she used to put her teeth on their bodies and everything we considered many times rehoming her just because we didn't think she was ever going to break out of it but we continue to give her the chance to grow because at the end of the day she was still a pup and that takes a while for that to be grown out of now. She is a year and a half, and this is how she plays with them. We're very proud of her, there are some days where she tries to push past the line, but she never uses her teeth anymore, it's more so that she wants to paw at them, and since they're a little smaller than her, they get a little scared, but she is starting to learn how to respect boundaries. The cat in this video particularly has taught her within a month and a half time to circulate around her without invading her space, or she will get scratched on the nose l O l. Our dog doesn't like to get scratched, she is aware that this particular cat will defend herself, but what we're also noticing is that this cat is starting to be a little more permissive of the dog being in her space, so it's a learning process and I enjoy witnessing it.

Where in the 🌎
Hey everyone, Greatful to see this little community of animal lovers steadily growing 🐾❤️ I'd love to know, where in the world are you? I've been scheduling calls for UK evening time, but conscious this might not be a suitable time for everyone and happy to adjust moving forward 😊

@Gemma Sheppard thank you for the welcome!
Why Your Nervous System Matters More Than Any Training Method
For this months theme of regulation, we will be exploring more about co-regulation and how your state influences your animals behaviour and your relationship with them. This is often the missing piece when people are having ongoing issues with their animals. We are so used to rushing from one thing to the next, but we hardly ever stop to think how that dysregulated state is influencing those around us - especially our animals as they are so in tune. Anyone in this group who has horses will know it is imperative to leave your feelings at the gate. Because horses are prey animals and we are predators, they are experts at reading us. The same goes for dogs, they have honed their human reading skills over centuries of domestication. Here is the link for this months blog post, take a look and let me know what you think: https://morethanhuman.uk/nervous-system-for-animal-training/

animals are constantly gauging their surroundings and us. they are the most empathic, and yes, horses are a prime example. they come from a deep heart space. regulating self regulates them. they pick up on so much.
