Practicing regulation
In this session I covered: - A short mindful movement exercise - How you can notice when you are dysregulated - Tools for regulation - Why it's important to regulate before interacting with animals - Tools for co-regulation I'm going to bring this call and last weeks call together into some kind of course or handout that I can upload to the classroom so people can refer back to it later. I'd love to know how you get on with these tools, let me know in the comments

Practicing regulation
Live session tomorrow
Hope everyone has had a lovely weekend, and a great mother's day (if you're in the UK) 💐 Tomorrow we have our second live session for March: Practising Regulation Last week I covered the cognitive side and talked about what regulation is, co-evolution, co-regulation and emotional contagion. Tomorrow's session is an embodiment of these things, where we will practice some simple tools to help you co-regulate with your animals. Looking forward to seeing you tomorrow at 6.30pm UK time. As always, if you can't make it live, the session will be recorded.

Mindfulness & Dogs - From Entanglement To Attunement
I found this meditation on Insight timer and thought it appropriate to share with you all. Here's the description: If your dog is one of those sensitive souls who get uncomfortable at a great many things out there in the world, you know just difficult life with them can get. And once they starts to growl, bark or lunge at whatever make them uneasy, it is hard not to be swept up in this wave of emotion. There is way, though, to be attuned to your dog without absorbing their stress. You can notice their signals with compassion while staying centered in your own body. It is possible to support your dog through challenges and support yourself in the process. In this episode you will hear a beautiful story about how a client and their reactive dog reaped the fruit of their mindful work together, when the dog actively decided that it was better to breathe and turn away than to lunge and bark. This is mindfulness training at its best. This episode also introduces you to the concept of co-regulation and guides you through an exercise to exemplify the concept. Listen in, enjoy and breathe ! https://insighttimer.com/achtsamkeit.dog/guided-meditations/mindfulness-dogs-from-entanglement-to-attunement

A good day
Do you ever have one of those days where you really feel like you've done the absolute best for your animal? Progress not perfection. That's what this space is for. Share your good animal days here (with pictures) so we can support each others wins. Walked your reactive dog without them barking? A good day Your rescue snuggled up to you for the first time? A good day Share those wins, no matter how big or small 🥳

@Indira Rojas I love watching inter species communication. It's great your young dog has worked out where the boundaries lie and is able to regulate herself more now. Important lessons that she will carry into other areas of her life too!
Where in the 🌎
Hey everyone, Greatful to see this little community of animal lovers steadily growing 🐾❤️ I'd love to know, where in the world are you? I've been scheduling calls for UK evening time, but conscious this might not be a suitable time for everyone and happy to adjust moving forward 😊
