🌸 HRT QOTD
If you’re on HRT, what side effect worried you most before starting? Did you end up experiencing it, and if so, how did you manage it?

To be honest I never worried about any side effects. All I cared about was getting relief and help from my misery.
HRT vs the pill
Hey ladies! I'm 44, have been in peri for 2 years. I just had a full hysterectomy on 10/29/25 and kept my ovaries. After surgery he asked if I had ever been diagnosed with PCOS because my ovaries were covered in little cysts common with PCOS. I had not, but I was diagnosed with severe insulin resistance years ago. Anyways. I made another appointment with him to talk about HRT for peri. He told me that what is offered is the Mili bc pill and Effexor. I'm already on Effexor and it's very helpful for me, especially with hot flashes, night sweats and anxiety. He didn't do any blood work. I asked about testosterone and he said it usually isn't prescribed but he's had enough women ask about it that he's going to do more research and will let me know if he thinks it'd be something helpful. I live in rural PA, so my options in Gynos is very limited. He's 2 hours away and was the 3rd doctor I had to see to get the hysterectomy. 😐 Has anyone else done the Mili pill and Effexor and had success? How soon starting the pill did you feel any relief from other symptoms? Right now the brain fog is what's the most difficult to deal with.

I could really use new sheets. I’ll have to try those!
12.5mg weekly testosterone injection
Is that high ? I was told that’s what they recommend for me 42 year old woman. I’m so scared of side effects. I was also given estradiol 1mg progesterone 100 mg pill to take daily from Another doctor. I haven’t taken anything yet.

@Laura Llamas Everyone takes a different amount. I am on 6mg a week.
Supplements
Who here is taking Saw Palmetto, L-theanine and/or L-Glutamine? I want to know if anyone has experienced side effects when starting them, what effects and how long they lasted. I have a sensitive stomach and I’m leery to try. Thanks

@Sara Matzen Hi! Sorry to hear. Not fun at all! I started really noticing a difference in how I wasn’t experiencing the issues I normally was with certain foods. Bloating, constipation, and water retention were the issues. (You quickly learn what foods are problematic when you have to take progress photos every 2 weeks for your coach. Ugh) I was so restricted with what I could eat. Not anymore! I noticed a difference after a good 2-3 months of consistently taking 3g a day in a powder form. I learned from watching a video from Dr Jorge Fletchas that glutamine is the number one fuel source for the GI track. Ahhh makes so much sense.

@Sara Matzen I use Designs for Health. I get supplements for cost where I work. It’s a really good brand but is a little higher priced. I didn’t notice an effect for the weight gain. Hormones can play a role in that.
