A Shamanic Perspective on Energetic Cords
Hi Babes, I have been diving into some extra learning around cords. The type of chords that keep us attached to those who serve and dont. I put together a little about what I know so far so we can explore more on our next call. A Shamanic Perspective on Energetic cords (and why some are sacred to keep) From a shamanic lens, cords are not something to fear. They are not inherently “good” or “bad.” They are lines of relationship—threads of energy that form wherever life has touched us. We form cords with: • People we’ve loved, learned from, or survived with • Places that have held us through change or trauma • Experiences that shaped our identity or nervous system • Roles we’ve played, vows we’ve made, promises we’ve kept • Even versions of ourselves we’ve outgrown A cord is simply energy remembering connection. How cords form Cords develop through: • Emotional intensity (love, fear, devotion, grief, longing) • Repetition (patterns, routines, ongoing dynamics) • Survival bonding (trauma, caretaking, power imbalance) • Unfinished energy (words not spoken, choices not honoured) The body and field create cords as a way to stay oriented: “Where do I belong?” “What keeps me safe?” “What matters?” This is not weakness. It is intelligence. How to feel, recognise, and sense cords Cords rarely announce themselves visually at first. They are felt before they are seen. You may notice: • A pull or heaviness in the chest, womb, throat, or solar plexus • A sudden emotional response when thinking of a person or place • Fatigue, looping thoughts, or an inability to fully let go • A sense of being tethered even when something has ended Some people eventually see cords as: • Threads, ropes, light, vines, or lines of sensation. But seeing is not required. Feeling is enough. Your nervous system is the translator. How to discern: which cords nourish, and which drain This is where love—not judgment—comes in. A nourishing cord feels: • Grounded, steady, warm • Expansive without pulling

I love this "A cord is simply energy remembering connection." Question - when we feel the presence of someone in our consciousness, do we assume it is a cord forming? I recently experienced something quite intense. I met someone in December, and we had this instant connection - like I felt good n safe in their presence. and we kept in touch since. However, 10 days ago he became so present in my awareness almost impossible to shake. At first, I resisted their presence, fighting and wanting to control these emotions that were coming up, even confused about why I felt his presence so intensely. Only to realize that the resistance itself was rooted in self judgement & lack of self confidence. When I shifted from resistance to acceptance and then into curiosity, something changed. I saw that his presence wasn’t there to overwhelm me, but to mirror something a sense of healthy masculine energy that I feel I need right now to bring structure into my life. As soon as that landed, the pressure dissolved. His presence softened dramatically. My energy returned to my body. Eventually, I followed that nudge (from friends) and met them for a coffee simply to understand why he had shown up in my field. Right now when I receive a response/text from this person. I feel a spark in my navel. Like my gut has skipped a beat. however, I feel detached too. Thoughts?
