20’s Casino night Gala
I have a gala to go to later this month with a 1920’s casino night theme. What would be some of your suggestions? This is the planned outfit. Navy pants and vest with a brownish polka dot tie and brown dress shoes

Thank you everyone for the suggestions! I will definitely be changing the knot. As for the shirt I’m a bit stuck with it since it’s the only one I have tailored. I’ve got a big neck and little arms but I will definitely be looking at adding at least one clubbed collared shirt to the wardrobe for the occasion
Networking
I’m a brand new business owner. Right now it’s a side hustle but like any side hustle I would love to expand it. I am aggressively networking to get more contacts and hopefully more business. My question is how should I present myself? Is it better to be casual? Or is it better to go into these events guns blazing in the whole suit tie and slacks?

For sure dependent on your business. I have found that a more casual approach opens more doors for me. The introductions become more of making friends vs transactions. I’ve gotten more referrals taking that approach as well.
What's Your Signature Style?
I’ve read endless chatter about the virtues of a signature fragrance, but I juggle over 50 scents like a circus act, so pinning one down feels like chasing a unicorn. No signature fragrance here. Instead, I’m curious: what nails your signature style? For some, it’s that hat they’d sooner die than remove. Me? I’m wedded to the pocket square. I suit up daily for work and never skip the pocket square—it’s the accessory that screams, “I pay attention to the details." What’s your style hallmark?

Very much business causal with a western touch.
Should “fanny packs” or cross body packs be in your casual wardrobe?
In 1990, when I started my federal law-enforcement career, fanny packs were all the rage. For practical reasons, I liked them, because you could carry a concealed firearm. They eventually, by the mid 90s, got to be really fancy. Leather versions, all sorts of designer versions, and what not. I’ve noticed within the last couple years they seem to have made a comeback. Not as flamboyant as in the 90s, but they are definitely back with Millennials and Gen Z. Even more popular though and sometimes very stylish are the crossbody bags, which seem to have been adopted by some big name designer houses. I particularly notice them when I am overseas or in Las Vegas. Not sure if I like the idea of a crossbody bag as something I want to wear, although I have thought about getting one when recently in Italy. What do you guys think about either fanny packs or crossbody bags being part of your fashion ensemble?

I wear one when I’m wearing gym shorts or sweats. Basically anything I can’t wear a belt with. My Fanny pack is what I keep my gun in during those times

My office is pretty casual when it comes to attire. I try to elevate it a little by making sure I’m in a collared shirt or a button up since I am in a management role.

@Justin Tyler I’ll throw a blazer on when I go to networking events or I’m meeting an important client. Right now, my go to shirts are from Kuhl and Ariat. I’m looking into getting a few Poncho shirts as well.
