Thursday Morning Hello!
I'll be in and out of cell range as we head to Kamloops this morning. If you need me...I'll check in when it's possible but in the mean time... This week’s community challenge: post a photo of your craft market table setup. It can be from a past market, your current setup at home or even a practice layout you're working on. Bonus question: What’s one thing on your table you think customers notice first?

I use a pair of stair risers with 6 ft boards across them, then covered with a large black tablecloth. I've found that if my items are at eye level they attract more interest - even from further away. My stock includes hand painted glassware, ornaments, boxes, etc. and crochet slippers (Xmas item).
Quick question for the vendors here…
After a craft market, do you actually remember what sold, what worked and what you’d change next time?😏 Or does everything blur together a few days later?🤔 Most vendors pack up, go home, collapse on the couch … and then jump straight into the next market without really capturing what they learned. That’s exactly why I’ve been making a few updates inside the Vendors 101 classroom. There are now a couple of simple tools in there that help with things like: 👉🏼 knowing what to focus on before a market 👉🏼 keeping your market information organised in one place 👉🏼tracking what actually happened at each show Nothing complicated. Just a small system that makes markets easier over time. If you’re preparing for a market right now or planning your next one, it might be worth taking a look. You’ll find the updated lessons in the Vendors 101 classroom. And now I’m curious… Do you currently keep track of your markets in any way, or do you mostly rely on memory?

I keep an inventory list before and after and a list of what has sold and the price. This can get hectic when several people are at my table at the same time but I try to keep it accurate. I also take notes about suggestions from customers, market attendance, busy hours, what other vendors are selling, etc.

@Lisa Graham - looking for popular colours, trends, new ways of doing things. I'm a retired accountant who paints, crochets, knits, beads, upcycles ... My main inventory consists of painted works ( canvas, glass, wood ) and crochet slippers
Things Only a Vendor Would Understand
You spend hours preparing for a market. Pricing everything. Packing the car like your life depends upon it. Setting up your table so it looks just right. The market opens. A customer walks up, looks at your table, picks something up… studies it carefully… And you think: this might be the first sale of the day.🤞🏼 Then they slowly put it back down and walk away. Every vendor knows that moment. Vendors… what’s the moment at markets that always gets your hopes up?

My hopes go up anytime someone approaches my booth. I'm always looking for something to draw them in. Painting usually works for me.
