Jesus wasnât forced onto the cross, He chose it. John 10:17-18 ESV 17 For this reason the Father loves me, because I lay down my life that I may take it up again. 18 No one takes it from me, but I lay it down of my own accord. I have authority to lay it down, and I have authority to take it up again. This charge I have received from my Father.â In a world obsessed with control, power, and self preservation. Jesus modeled something radically different: Surrender with purpose. He had the authority to walk away. He had the power to stop it. He had every reason to avoid the pain. But He didnât. Because the cross wasnât a tragedy, it was a decision. A decision rooted in love. A decision anchored in obedience. A decision that carried the weight of humanityâs sin. Luke 22:42 ESV âFather, if you are willing, remove this cup from me. Nevertheless, not my will, but yours, be done.â That wasnât weakness, but meakness. That Is strength under control. We avoid hard things. Jesus steps directly into them. We protect ourselves.Jesus gave Himself for others.
