Learning Something New Everyday
I want to tell you something that not many people know about me. I love to learn. Growing up I wasn't the person who liked study. When it came to passing classes, I did just enough to get by. Especially in high school. I was too busy hanging out with the guys, playing baseball and chasing girls. I did enough to graduate. My senior year I even had a severe asthma attack that kept me in the hospital for a week. Then I missed school for a week recovering, but doing homework from school. My Grannie passed away after I graduated and that's when I fell into darkness for next 15 years. In 2013 I gave my life to Christ and He saved me from dying. He called me to be a Christian counselor. You've heard that God qualifies the called. I decided to go to college and learn more on Christian counseling. I couldn't stop learning. I graduated with a Ph.D of Philosophy in Christian counseling. I maintained the attitude of wanting to keep learning. I have learned so much since becoming a Christian by people God has put in my life. Just the other day I learned something from @Calvin Hall that just blew me away. If you haven't had a chance to read his posts or talk to him, your missing out. He is a very wise man. Today I learned something about John 20:30. We have all read about Jesus performing miracles. Did you know the verse and next verse tells us He did so much more that is not in the Bible. Jesus told us enough and people at that time to believe in Him. Yet there were still people who didn't believe in Him after seeing these miracles. Questions I have: Did you learn something new today? Would you believe in someone who performed a miracle right in front of you?

@Sharisa Seabrook Thank you for the kind words. I didn't know God, but he knew me. I just had no clue. I do know now, He had a plan for me long before He performed that miracle in me. You inspire me with your faith.

@Eric Markum Great testimony. The one thing people don't understand about being delivered is God also delivers you from the cravings. You don't need somewhere to get sober. You don't have to worry about about the side effects. I think with alcohol it's called the DTs. It's been 12 years and still no cravings. I've even had a small drug I used in my addiction prescribed to me when I had a kidney stone. I was not hesitant in taking it. I trusted God in His deliverance that this would be the pill that helped my pain. Boy did it help. Just like that I stop taking it. We serve a big God.
SAVED NOT SOFT?
I bought this T-shirt because I liked the saying. The saying has a personal meaning to me. If you saw these words, what would they mean to you?

Questions for the counselor
@Robert Gault I love the work you are doing and helping people grow and follow Christ. Over your years of counseling, what has been the most rewarding aspect for you? What is your big idea for this community? How can we help you achieve it? Have you helped counsel many people with church hurt?

@Gordon Brooks Jr. Thank you. The most rewarding aspect is helping others and letting them know they are not alone. I struggled with different things that caused me to attemp suicide because I thought noone cared and didnt want to hear my problems. I'm seeing too much of that in the world today and in the people I counsel. You have to earn their trust to get them to open up to you. When I created this community I really didn't have any expectations except I wanted it to be faith based. I was invited here by someone who has not been back on here for months. I just want a safe place to share openly about your faith. Where you are in your walk. Do you need help? As the days go by i find more people joing and wanting to do more for the community. I'll admit there is not a lot of engagement inside the community itself. I want this community to be a learning experience, knowing scripture and what it means, to difficulties in sharing the gospel to others, or questions you are asked that you really dont know the answer to. I'm open to ideas if someone wants to try something. I'm thinking about a time we can have group chat once a month just to see how members are doing, prayers requests, etc.

@Gordon Brooks Jr. Thank you. My mind is turning. I am also getting so much help from people in other communities that I have to balance.
Welcome Our Newest Member
@Gordon Brooks Jr. Welcome to the community. This is a safe, no judgemental place. We talk about openly or privately about our faith, the Bible, any struggles we are having. This community is still in the process of growing. I am a Christian counselor if you need any help. You can learn so much from the members we have. If you have any ideas that would make this a better place, please feel free to share to share. Would you please introduce yourself, tell us about what you do, all that kind of stuff?

@Calvin Hall and @Gordon Brooks Jr. Since we all got daughters I thought I was the only one that had no chance. I have been the only male growing up. I dont know my father, have 1 sister, 3 daughters, 4 fogs that are girls, and 2 cats that are girls.
All Things Are Possible
Matthew 19:26 ESV But Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” God is actually responding to his disciples' shock and concern. Just before this, a rich young man came to Jesus asking what he needed to do to gain eternal life. Jesus told him to sell his possessions and give to the poor, which the man was unwilling to do. The disciples then asked Jesus, "Who then can be saved?" because they understood how difficult it was for someone with many worldly attachments (like wealth) to follow Jesus's radical call. "With man this is impossible": -This refers to our human limitations, our inability to achieve salvation or truly transform ourselves through our own efforts or material possessions. It highlights that no amount of wealth, status, or good deeds done in our own strength can earn us entry into God's kingdom. • "but with God all things are possible": This is the hopeful and crucial part! It means that what we can't do, God absolutely can. He can change hearts, overcome our human weaknesses and provide the way to salvation and transformation. John 14:6 ESV Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. It emphasizes God's omnipotence and grace, offering hope that even in seemingly impossible situations (like a rich man giving up everything, or any person overcoming their sin nature), God's power can make it happen. Essentially, it's a profound statement about divine power overcoming human limitation, reminding us that salvation and true change are ultimately God's work, not ours. Your good works, money, or your status will not get you into Heaven. I've seen a young girl who was diagnosed with scoliosis after one scan, then after prayer her spine completely straight on another exam. A co worker of mine diagnosed stage 4 lung cancer who went through chemo and radiation treatment with no succes. Led to Houston by the Holy Spirit to find a different oncologist. He found one who suggested stem cell replacement. My friend has been cancer free for over 10 years.
