Palm Sunday
Jesus rode into Jerusalem on a donkey as crowds welcomed him by spreading palm branches and cloaks on the road. They shouted “Hosanna! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!”, hailing him as Messiah and King. The name “Palm Sunday” comes from those palm branches. A fulfillment of prophecy: Jesus’ entry fulfilled Old Testament prophecy. Zechariah 9:9 ESV Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion! Shout aloud, O daughter of Jerusalem! Behold, your king is coming to you; righteous and having salvation is he, humble and mounted on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey. In the Greco-Roman world, palm branches symbolized triumph and victory. Yet Jesus chose a donkey, not a warhorse, signaling He came as a king of peace, humility, and servanthood, not military conquest. A deeper victory, Christians understand Jesus’ mission as a greater, spiritual victory, to save humankind from sin and death. The celebration is joyful, but it foreshadows how the same crowd would later call for Jesus’ crucifixion. The same people that cheered him were the same people that turned their back on him. Jesus knew that would happen. Have you had it happen to you? How did you feel? Proverbs 17:17 ESV A friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for adversity.
The Christian Counselor
A Christian counselor is essentially a mental health professional who integrates Christian faith, biblical principles, and prayer. I focus on the whole person – mind, body, and spirit, recognizing that spiritual well being is deeply connected to emotional and mental health. Biblical FoundationAs a Christian counselor I use scripture and biblical teachings as tools to guide sessions, address issues like anxiety, depression, relationship problems, and trauma. I help clients align their lives with Christian values. Integration of FaithUnlike secular therapy, Christian counseling explicitly incorporates prayer, discussions of scripture, and a faith based moral framework into the therapeutic process. I am a professional Christian counselor, though I'm not licensed. I was called by God in 2015 to be a Christian counselor. I went to school and graduated with a Ph.D of Philosophy in Christian counseling. I believe God called me to help people because I have 15 yrs of prior personal experience with mental, addiction, and suicidal thoughts. In those years I was in and out of psychiatric hospitals, put on so many medications that I lost count. I have attempted suicide twice by overdosing on pills. I had seen several psychiatrists but they did nothing to help me. They would ask me about my week and that was it. I lost my wife to divorce and she got custody of my daughter. I have also lost many people that I loved dearly to different illnesses. Christian counseling is a way for people who want their mental health support to also align with their spiritual beliefs. I don't force my beliefs on anyone I counsel. I counsel believers and unbelievers. I will not judge you. Everything is confidential. I don't even talk to my wife about anything plus she knows not to ask. The Holy Spirit guides me and the Bible is my manual. If you need a counselor, I am here for you. It's not weakness to ask for help. Let's work through it together. Please reach me here or email me at [email protected]
