Jesus Chose the Cross
Jesus wasn’t forced onto the cross, He chose it.
John 10:17-18 ESV
17 For this reason the Father loves me, because I lay down my life that I may take it up again.
18 No one takes it from me, but I lay it down of my own accord. I have authority to lay it down, and I have authority to take it up again. This charge I have received from my Father.”
In a world obsessed with control, power, and self preservation.
Jesus modeled something radically different: Surrender with purpose.
He had the authority to walk away. He had the power to stop it. He had every reason to avoid the pain. But He didn’t.
Because the cross wasn’t a tragedy, it was a decision. A decision rooted in love. A decision anchored in obedience. A decision that carried the weight of humanity’s sin.
Luke 22:42 ESV
“Father, if you are willing, remove this cup from me. Nevertheless, not my will, but yours, be done.”
That wasn’t weakness, but meakness. That Is strength under control.
We avoid hard things. Jesus steps directly into them.
We protect ourselves.Jesus gave Himself for others.
The The cross changes everything
Sometimes the most powerful move you can make isn’t escaping the pressure, it’s embracing the purpose inside of it.
So the question becomes
What are you resisting that might actually be part of your assignment?
