My Italian basil and borage showing the other other seeds how it's done ❤️🌱 🌱 I planted these just under a week ago ❤️

My stevia and horehound sprouted so fast! I planted them Sunday and stevia started sprouting Thursday and horehound on Friday. My tomatoes and peppers didn’t take too long this year either.

Okay, I know it looks like a total mess but we're just getting started! 🌱First pic is of a raised hugelkultur bed on a hill planted with 2 plum trees, strawberries and asparagus. 🌱 2nd pic is a bed dug into the side of the hill with a recycled "retaining wall". I just finished pulling up all the yucca that took over this area last year. Now I gotta get the root fragments outta there and plant it with some aggressive native species. Any ideas? 🌱3rd pic is a sassafras tree that was given to me by a neighbor last fall. I just got it in the ground finally. I hope it does well!

A sassafras tree?! I’ve been watching videos on how to make homemade root beer (I’m really not sure why because I don’t actually like store bought root beer 🤣)
Ginger is weirder that I thought!🫚
Thanks for the suggestion to make a video on ginger. I definitely learned some new stuff 😁👍✨

I’m planning to try growing ginger in a pot this year. I grew shampoo/awapuhi ginger last year and it’s overwintering in my house and already coming out of dormancy.

Anyone have knowledge on ginger bugs (ferments used to make homemade sodas)? I just started on this weekend and plan to make ginger ale and a peach soda. If you have ever kept one, did you start it in an open container (coffee filter, cheesecloth, etc.) or a closed container with the lid on?
🌞🌿March Challenge & New Course!🌿🌞
🌿 Get Ready to Grow! 🌿 Spring is almost here… and March is our month to prepare. Before the rush of planting and harvesting begins, this is the perfect time to build, make, mix, and start the things that will set us up for a beautiful, productive growing season. 🌞 This month’s theme is Get Ready to Grow - and I’ve created something special to go along with it. I put together a course with 31 simple garden projects to spark ideas and inspiration. You do not need to complete all 31. Think of it as a menu - small, doable projects that help you move forward one step at a time. This course is available to everyone for the month of March so click over to the "Classroom" Tab and check it out!🌱 Here’s the heart of the challenge: Each week in March, choose projects that help prepare your garden for the upcoming season - and post about what you’re making or growing in the community so we can inspire each other. 💚 Your project might be: 🔨 Structures • Build a trellis • Make a cold frame • Create raised beds or planters 🎨 Decor • Paint garden rocks • Make plant markers • Design a garden sign 🌿 Soil • Start a compost system • Mix your own potting soil • Refresh garden beds 💧 Watering Systems • Make an olla • Set up simple drip irrigation • Create a rainwater collection system 🌱 Seedlings • Start sprouts • Plant seeds indoors • Grow your first plant starts This isn’t about perfection. It’s about momentum. ✨ One small project a week can completely change how prepared and confident you feel when planting season arrives AND you don’t need a big garden to do this - I’ve got projects for tiny spaces and apartments too! So, Post pictures. 📸 Share your progress. Show us your messy workbench, your half-built trellis, your tiny seedlings. When we see each other building and growing, it reminds us that we can do it too. 🌼 Let’s spend March laying the groundwork - literally and figuratively - so when spring fully arrives, we’re ready. Who’s in?! 🌸

I’m in! I’ve already started some seeds indoors, but I’m planning on focusing my backyard container garden on herbs this year, so will be direct sowing most outdoors. So far, bell peppers, tomatoes, anise hyssop, Moringa, and alpine strawberries have started germinating. I need to focus on getting everything ready outdoors, so this challenge sounds perfect!
