Action step: about my journal
About my foraging journal: I went on a hunt in my art supplies and abandoned sketchbooks. I'm afraid to commit to a brand new book and give up on it, so I figured picking up one that was already given up on once would solve that problem/brain block of mine. I'm using a notebook cover my mom or aunt sent me with this used sketchbook that lost its cover. It's cute and soft. I just started numbering the pages today. My writing tools are a favorite pen & pencil & pastels inside a cute caterpillar that I can't forget about. Added a new pencil to it today, one I can write with. I'm keeping my journal & caterpillar either in my work bag or on my dining room table so I remember to use it. For my garden plans, I use a larger notepad of grid paper. And I only just discovered that the backside is lined! 😱 I typically rip the pages out as I go and keep them in my garden bag. Hoping to hear about everyone else's journals! 😊🌞

Good strategy! Fear of "ruining" a new notebook is a really common stopper. I love the decorations on this one too! πŸ˜πŸ‘πŸŒ±πŸ“šβœ¨

More snow 😭 It wasn't a lot so I'm just being dramatic but the wind chill was terrible these past few days! It's got down to about -20Β°F so I stayed inside again πŸ₯Ά As neverending as winter always feels, this challenge to really focus and observe has helped stay me notice signs of life and give me dreams of spring 😊

I feel ya! I'm a total wimp when it comes to cold weather πŸ₯Ά I've been using my journal to track weather, animal observations and research exotic spices on these chilly days!πŸ˜πŸ‘πŸŒ±πŸ“šβœ¨
Foraging journal entry 2/7/26
Today's entry was more reflective, jotting down my current projects and the things I need to do next to complete them. I don't like how I can see through to the previous page, so I'm starting to sketch things out on the left pages. It's nice to have the time to sit and write and watch the birds. πŸ˜ŠπŸ¦β€β¬›πŸ¦

Love it! πŸ’• I cannot overstate how essential journaling has become to my mental health, plant research and overall productivity. I've turned into one of those crazy people who wakes up at 5am just to journal for an hour before starting work.πŸ˜πŸ‘πŸ“šβœ¨πŸŒ±
