Manifesting me being at the retreat ✨
Hi wedding friends!
I'm Emily and am based in Arizona! Kyle and Camryn - this platform is awesome! What a great way to connect the filmmaking community. I've been filming weddings for almost 7 years now. Just now diving into full time after having two kids and finally balancing that aspect of my life a bit more. Something I'm excited for this year is making the switch to Sony! I just got an FX3 after being on Pansonic for years and I am excited for all the new creativity that comes with new gear.

Crashers de Weddings!
Everyone, my name is James. Born in the Bay Area; building in Arizona. My wife and I moved to Phoenix Metro area 8 years ago for a church plant/launch. She's the Worship Leader and I am the Music and Production Director. Serving our local community is something we are deeply passionate about. Many, MANY, moons ago I met Kyle through a mutual friend and had the privilege to shadow a wedding with him, where I fortunately met Camryn. I can't say we become the best of buds from then on out, but I've truly admired witnessing the growth of their craft and now am honored to be a part of what they have built. In 2020, a camera and a role fell on my lap. This was due to the pandemic. As a musician, I've always been fascinated by the art of videography and what it can do, but now there was no turning back. I had to sink or swim... I sank... Instead of going to school to become proficient, I enrolled in YouTube Tech (yes, that's a joke) and practiced and practiced. The challenge I found was not even knowing the terms what I what I was looking for. This was a whole new world to me and I didn't have a community to lean on. The only way I learned, was by doing. I started shooting weddings pretty quickly as a side hustle, which ended up being one of the best things to happen to me. I was forced to know/learn my camera and it's capabilities inside and out and how to to adapt in any situation in a matter of moments. But the reward of gifting something priceless to a beautiful couple that they can cherish for the rest of life? C'mon now. This is why we are here. For people. In May 2024, I gave my 9-5 my notice and haven't looked back. I took a break from weddings to focus on the bigger production and cooperate stuff, but am truly excited to get back to one of my early loves. As mentioned before, community is everything. I've been a part of many because of the importance, but have also watched them fizzle out. I have high hopes for Wedding Crashers and the impact it'll make. 🤘🤘

Yay James so good to see you in here! Especially after we juuuust connected!
~for those of you who don't know me~
Hi everyone! I'm Amanda. Hopefully you all have time on your hands (and hopefully this is even allowed lol). I'm here after a couple of signs from the universe, and I don't know where to start so hopefully I don't confuse you all😅 I was working full time for a tech startup and was let go last week after working there for 7 years. It was a total gut punch and I'm really upset and nervous because my husband and I bought our first home 4 months ago, so it came at a really sucky time. Here is where video comes in: I started my content capturing (I hate content creator title lol) side hustle last March - instagram.com/beyondyourday. I've always loved editing videos, worked in the wedding industry before, and I live in NJ where you unfortunately need multiple incomes to be able to afford a home 🙃 I love content capturing and editing so I've been REALLY tempted to get into videography. Here's where the universe signs come in: I wasn't happy at my 9-5 and have been trying to decide if I should take the leap into videography and now with being let go, I feel like this may have been the push I needed. I also came across this podcast and page last week, so it's all some coincidental timing. The only thing holding me back from taking this leap is 1: my crippling imposter syndrome 2: I'm not exactly a gearhead and don't know where to start as far as equipment goes I am trying to push myself every day - even posting this is a little terrifying - so I'm hoping I can come back to this post in a few months and be really proud of how far I've come. If you made it this far and didn't stop after seeing "content creator"... thank you 🫶

Hey Amanda! Super sucky about losing your job, but that is awesome that it might have just been the push you needed to really give content capturing a go! Definitely don't let your two points hold you back. I've been doing this in different capacities for almost 7 years now and even I still have times when I get imposter syndrome. And I'm definitely not a gearhead 😂 I'm constantly asking my videographer friends that know their way around gear for advice.
Local Film Nerd
My name is James! I’m currently based in Arizona, I've just started doing videography in the past year/year and a half, with photography currently being the main focus at the moment. One of the big things I am stoked about is doing a class and connect out at NY Bridal Fashion Week followed by shooting a branding shoot for a Husband/Wife Photo/Video Team all on film (photo and video). Gear wise for Digital I am on Nikon, yeah I know we are potatoes. Analog I have Bolex Kits in Regular and Super 16. As time goes on I still look to expand my analog portion to the commercial and doc side be it shooting for film to be licensed, renting out the kits, or shooting for a brand. -Slim 🙏🏾💜

Jamessss! The more people I see pop in here, the more I wish we all would just pay for the retreat so we can get together! 😂 NY Bridal Fashion Week sounds like so much fun! Is the class specifically tailored to fashion week?
