Snow in Hveragerdi on the last day of March.
Spring is (hopefully) around the corner..... Here are photos I took today just above my town inbetween blissards In one of the pics you can see down a long street and in the far a mountain. At the end of that street there is a building in which my present studio is. My house can't be seen but is to the right of that garage. I live in a geothermal town called Hveragerdi, about 45 km. east of Reykjavik. One has to cross a mountain to get there. If you want to see a few photos I took few days ago up there, let me know and I will post them.

Looks cold. I hope you have warmer weather soon. Iceland is so beautiful! My son will be there in May for a conference so hope it’s a little warmer.
Personal Update 💝
I wanted to share something personal with this community, as you’ve all been such a supportive part of my life. My baby brother is currently very unwell with T Cell Non Hodgkin Lymphoma, and we don’t know how much time we have left with him. Right now, every single day we get together feels incredibly precious. 😢 I’ve chosen to keep things private, especially on YouTube and more public spaces, to protect him and our family. But I did want to share this here so you understand that over the coming weeks or months, I might be a bit quieter or less present. I’m not sharing this for sympathy — just to offer some context. If I seem distant at times, it’s simply because I’m spending as much time as I can with him. Thank you for being such a kind and understanding community 💝

Sarah, I am so so sorry to hear this news. Spend as much time as possible with him. Share happy memories, laugh and cry together. You will not regret it. I lost my sister to breast cancer- she fought the disease for 10 years. It still wasn’t enough time. Hugs and sending prayers for strength in the days ahead. Please know you are not alone! Eileen
🐰 April Challenge: Animal Shaped (and a Little Change of Plans!)
Hello lovely makers, The call for a beginner-friendly challenge has been getting louder… so I’m adding a little twist to our April Challenge. For April, I’d love you to make something animal-shaped. 🐣🐰 Anything goes! Chickens, bunnies, spring creatures, mugs with animals, sculptures, little critters — whatever fits the theme. Think Animals, Circle of Life, Spring energy. So if it has ears, wings, paws, or a tail, it qualifies. 😉 Now about the fountain… Building a fountain can take time (and maybe a few cups of coffee and a lot of thinking). So instead of rushing it, we’re upgrading it to something bigger: 💧 The Fountain will become our Year Challenge for 2026. That gives everyone plenty of time to: - plan - experiment - build it step by step - and maybe even rebuild it once or twice (because… pottery 😄) But first things first… 👉 Let’s finish March. Then we jump straight into April: Animal Shaped. I can’t wait to see what kind of creatures appear in the studio. Have fun with it! 🐑🐢🐓

Sounds fun! This is a first for sharing what I have made but it fits April challenge-just early. I made this mug after our African safari-

I’m still hyped from our call yesterday, so my Sunday started in the best possible way. I opened the kiln with Vincent this morning and filmed a video that I’ll upload to YouTube later today. And guess what came out of the kiln as well? My Graffiti Cups! Now I need your help. 🫶 I’m taking part in a nationwide mug exchange here in Germany 🇩🇪 with 472 other potters. The idea is simple: I send one of my mugs to someone, and in return I’ll receive a mug from another potter somewhere in the country. Originally, I had chosen one of my more traditional glazed mugs to send. But now that the Graffiti Cups came out of the kiln, I’m thinking about sending one of them instead. 🥰 Of course, not the broken yellow one in the middle — that one stays with me. I tested it and it actually holds! That’s the mug from the tutorial that cracked, so I’ll definitely keep it as a memory of the process. 💛 But with the other five, I really need your help: Which one would you send? Which one do you like best? Even if the Graffiti style isn’t really your thing, just imagine you had to pick one — which number would it be? 👉 Please comment with the number of your favorite. I’ll wait until tonight and count the votes. There’s also a poll on my Instagram account. The mug with the most votes will go on its journey tomorrow. 📦

Such a hard choice because they are all fantastic. So a deep dive into possible meanings: 2 because I like the message whether it was intention not. 2 represents hope - rabbits for birth, peace symbol and the word believe. No. 4 because of the words to seek truth and love symbols.

I started pottery classes one year ago and I am hooked. It is a great way to fill my time in retirement. When I am not volunteering-i play w/clay.
