SOTD – Viktor & Rolf Spicebomb Extreme
Today's SOTD is Viktor & Rolf Spicebomb Extreme, a fragrance I haven't worn since the cold weather last year. And apparently, my memory of it wasn't entirely accurate. I remembered Spicebomb Extreme as a very sweet fragrance, with vanilla dominating the composition. Not necessarily a bad thing, but that was the impression that stuck with me. Wearing it again today, however, I'm experiencing something quite different. The vanilla is certainly still there, providing a warm, creamy sweetness, but what really stands out to me now is the wonderful combination of tobacco and spices. There's a richness and depth to this fragrance that I either overlooked or simply didn't appreciate as much the last time I wore it. And frankly, I like it even more this time around. It makes me wonder how much my nose has developed over the past year. I've sampled dozens of fragrances, conducted an entire 40-bottle tournament, and spent a great deal of time learning which notes and combinations appeal to me. Perhaps I'm simply becoming more attuned to the individual elements of a fragrance rather than focusing on whichever note makes the strongest initial impression. Or perhaps my tastes are evolving. I've certainly developed a greater appreciation for tobacco fragrances, particularly when the tobacco is balanced with warm spices, woods, and a little sweetness. Whatever the explanation, revisiting Spicebomb Extreme has been a pleasant surprise. This is unquestionably a cooler-weather fragrance, and now that autumn is finally beginning to feel like autumn, it's a particularly welcome addition to today's rotation. There's something satisfying about returning to an old sample and discovering that you appreciate it more than you remembered. It's also a good reminder not to make permanent judgments based on a single wearing—or even on memories from a year ago. Current status: A very successful rediscovery. The tobacco and spices are winning me over, and Spicebomb Extreme has moved up considerably in my estimation. More cold-weather testing ahead!

SOTD – Prada Paradigme Le Parfum
Today's SOTD is Prada Paradigme Le Parfum, the second of three new samples that arrived earlier this week. And once again, Prada reminds me why I've become such a fan of the house. I already have a sample of the original Paradigme EDP, and I've enjoyed wearing it. But after my first experience with Le Parfum, I think I can safely say that I prefer this version. There's a little more depth and maturity here, with a rich combination of amber, balsamic notes, vanilla, and woods creating a wonderfully smooth, sophisticated fragrance. It's warm and inviting without becoming excessively sweet or heavy, and it has that polished quality I've come to associate with some of my favorite Prada fragrances. The original EDP is certainly appealing, but Le Parfum feels a little more substantial and refined to my nose. It's the sort of fragrance that seems particularly well suited to someone who appreciates a more understated kind of elegance. And apparently, that's increasingly where my tastes are taking me. I can easily imagine wearing this one through autumn, winter, and spring. Summer might be pushing things a little, but even then, I wouldn't hesitate to wear it for an evening event in an air-conditioned setting. It's versatile enough that I wouldn't feel obligated to put it away for three months of the year. Of course, this is only my first wearing, and I have plenty of sample left to explore. But unlike some fragrances that leave me wondering whether I want to revisit them, I'm already looking forward to my next encounter with this one. The only thing keeping me from immediately considering a full bottle is the price. I've become much more selective about new purchases, and there's no reason to rush when I already have so many excellent fragrances to enjoy. But once Paradigme Le Parfum begins appearing at reputable discount sellers, I suspect I'll be paying close attention. Current status: An excellent first impression, and my clear preference over the original EDP. A strong candidate for the future purchase list—especially once the price comes down.

@Massimiliano Hajny I'm feeling somewhat the same way after wearing it for several hours... too sweet in the dry-down. It's nice, but not enough to push me to buy it. I have plenty left in the sample to test it some more.

@L Gonzalez Definitely sample it first.
? How to choose a new Perfume ?
Hi everybody, sorry to disturb but I have so many doubts deriving from these 10 days of Brotherhood that I need to make you some more questions. I learned a lot, got plenty of hints on new perfumes, read dozens of interesting reviews, and every day my desire for a new perfume grow!! But how do I choose the right one? I often use the more emotional part of my character to choose what I like or dislike, it could be easy to just walk in a perfumery and try some sample. But once you’re there you have a colored wall in front of you and just a few “chances” before your nose gets blind. I “forced” my analytical part, and tried to find a way to get there somehow prepared for what to test. In the picture below a table (I’m sorry it’s in Italian, but the words are similar) of some of the perfumes I own and mostly like quite a lot, starting from the colored strips of the Fragrantica main accords, I gave every perfume a vote from 1 to 10 according to the length of the colored strip. What came out is a ranking of the principal accords I have in the perfumes I own, with the Top 5 occupied by Citrus, Aromatic, Fresh Spicy, Woody and Amber (gathering together more than 50 % of the votes). My idea was to look for new perfumes that have “good votes” in my Top accords. For example @Robert Sheard posted some days ago a SOTD of Percival of Parfums de Marly, which fitted perfectly to my top 5. Please tell me what You think of this “method”. Where could be possible errors? What am I forgetting or not considering? Is it too analytic? Can we “trust” the Fragrantica Accords? What came out from my comparison with new perfumes is the following list of “Next Tries” 1) Boss Bottled Bold Citrus 2) Terre d’Hermes Eau Givree 3) Versace Eros Parfum 4) Versace Eau Fraiche Extreme 5) Chanel Allure Homme Sport Edition Blanche 6) YSL Y EDP Intense Thanks for your time and your help if possible Ciao a Tutti

I second what @Raymond Reeves said about Eau Givrée, one of my favorite hot weather fragrances. I'm not as scientific as you're being, I think. I tend to try to buy each new fragrance in the seasons I would actually wear it. So as it gets colder, I'm not looking to buy spring and summer fragrances. But beyond that, it's lots of sampling and waiting for the right one to hit me over the head.
