8 Standing postures
This mornings routine was the 8 Standing postures. I had no specific expectations, but knew, as always, that something would come from the video. I started, off video ,with some loosening drills to prepare myself. This morning is cold here in southern Spain with an outside temp of just 4º. I say this because by the time I was 12 minutes into the video, I could really feel the heat building. During the bending forward exercise I was beginning to take exceptionally deep breaths and exhales. Now I don't know if this is a natural process, but I started to feel very slightly dizzy. No big issue, however I wanted to mention it. I feel that I have a lot of work to do on my balance. The Golden Rooster stance is very difficult. I can manage 1 or 2 on the right leg but the left, impossible. Any tips would be gratefully received. Many Thanks
BaGua walking drills
Before going to bed, watched and took part in the YouTube video of BaGua walking. I wanted to see how it would aid with balance as well as learn the drill itself. The quick passage of the 3 walking movements means I will def have to watch and take part again. This is ideal for me in a small lounge. Many thanks.
Valuable lesson learnt (The hard way)
Today I decided to follow along with the Complete Guide to Qigong/Tai chi. I had noticed in all Sonny’s videos his feet were facing forward for most of the basic stances and exercises. I was having problems with this, as I felt uncomfortable. My feet would always be in a toes out position of about 20/30°. During the ‘advance’ movement, I suddenly felt and heard a loud crack in one knee. When I looked at my stance I saw that I had my feet in this outward facing position. I changed the stance and continued without any pain or discomfort. (LESSON LEARNT!!) Also during ‘playing the pipa’ I found that I was raising the arm and leg to the centre of my body, thus causing imbalance. By watching the movement again, I saw and resolved my problem. Having these videos online to review is fantastic. Thank you.
Sleeping position
I have been doing Qigong and a little Tai ji for close to a month now. Besides all the normal things that occur with a completely new practice such as aching muscles etc, I have noticed something which has really hit me. As far as I can remember, my whole life I have been a side sleeper, mainly left side but occasionally right side. A week ago I noticed that I am now a back sleeper, I CANNOT fall to sleep on my side. However I do turn onto one side or the other for a short time during the night. As I also have my arms either down by my side or across my chest, I started to wonder if this was something to do with 'grounding'. Has anyone else experienced this or similar and can the teachers explain this phenomenon. (Or am I just being weird?)

@Jayda Jeon Thanks for that feedback. I to have had neck and shoulder pain for several years. I had not related it to a sleeping position, but now it seems to make sense.

Rooted Alchemy family, we just surpassed 100,000 subscribers on YouTube. Wow. Back in August, who would have thought we would build a Tai Chi community of over 100,000 people practicing together from all over the world. This journey has been incredibly humbling, and we’re deeply grateful to every single one of you who has been here, practicing, watching, and growing with us. We’re excited for what the future holds and grateful for your patience as we continue building intentionally behind the scenes. Just know that we’re still early, and there is so much more to come. And a huge thank you to Sonny for practicing, teaching, and learning with such depth and integrity that it naturally spread far and wide. Stay the course.

Fantastic! Please keep up the good work. I love the way Sonny presents and explains the movements. I was inspired to buy a book on the history of Qigong and so far so much of what I have read Sonny has passed on in his videos. Great work.
