The Hunt for Dead "Stock"-tober: Chasing Discontinued Fragrances...
Hey guys, Joe A. here with another one for ya’! Today’s bit is one that pops up a lot in the fragrance hobby: “What discontinued fragrances do I need to get before they’re gone forever?” Listen, I get it! There’s something exciting about "The Hunt." A bottle gets discontinued, the price starts climbing, people start whispering about reformulations, backup bottles and “you had to be there” batch codes like we’re discussing ancient scrolls under candlelight. But here’s the boring-but-necessary truth: Before you go chasing discontinued fragrances, you really need to know what scent profiles you actually love!! Because discontinued does not automatically mean legendary. Sometimes it means the fragrance was underappreciated. Sometimes it means the brand made a bad decision. Sometimes it means the market moved on. And sometimes, gentlemen, it means the fragrance was standing in the clearance aisle for a reason... There's some absolutely great discontinued bottles out there. Acqua di Gio Profumo. Valentino Uomo Intense. Dunhill Icon. Certain Tom Ford releases. Older designer gems. Vintage formulations that fragrance folks still talk about like lost treasure. But “great fragrance” and “great fragrance for you” are two very different things!! Don't let FOMO grab you by the wallet and drag you into a $250 blind buy just because a fragrance now has “discontinued” attached to its name. My advice? Don’t chase discontinued fragrances first. Chase your own taste first. Once you know what you love, the hunt becomes smarter. You’re not just buying because something is rare. You’re buying because it fits your nose, your style and your collection. And let’s be honest, guys… there are still plenty of excellent fragrances available right now. Missing out on a discontinued bottle is not the end of the hobby. Sometimes the dragon you’re chasing is legendary. Sometimes it just smells like regret with a batch code!! What say you, guys? Do you chase discontinued fragrances, or do you usually let them go? What’s one discontinued bottle you think is actually worth the hunt? And what’s one that people hype up mostly because they can’t easily get it anymore? Love to hear from ya'!

Mall pickups!!
Wow! what a entire day I spent at the mall just sniffing 🤧 crazy headaches but came out with some or a bunch of things!! First stop was Louis Vuitton and I’m a little disappointed they ran out of samples when I came. she only had pacific chill and LV lovers but I came out with 100ml of afternoon swim. After I headed to Bloomingdale’s and thought there was a sale of spend a certain amount and get money back as a gift card but apparently its not on beauty products so I bought a Bleu de Chanel EDP which I’ve been wanting for some time, for 173$ which still is a good deal being the fact that I’m getting to know one of the sales reps!! She never disappoints!! Picked up a MFK discovery set for 70$ which was also a steal being the fact she gave some extra stuff 😉 Samples I got plus the few that you can see in the picture Valero Parfums de Marly Baccarat Rouge 540 Extrait de Parfum Maison Francis Kurkdjian Kurky Maison Francis Kurkdjian Wild Vetiver Creed

Thanks for the info!
Long Overdue!
Finally got around to getting this gem. I procured a sample from a gym bro/fraghead. I’m sorry I waited as long as I did. Absolutely outstanding. I’ll check on it again in a few weeks. Happy to have this in the rotation.

Nice pickup!
When a Clone is definitely the smart move. And the highest paid price on a dupe!!!
Well, I was with @Ben E, and he made a purchase of a fragrance that had been sold out that has just been restocked, and this might be the last go round. I bought 100 mil, but they do sell it in 40 mils for cheaper. This is one of those situations, although the clone is an expensive clone if you are a fragrance enthusiast, you may want to take time and add this to your collection after careful research. I found that it does get between 75 to 95% close or 90%, depending upon where you’re looking, but the reviews are insane. Boadicea Faith is the luxury version: smoother, richer, more polished, and more refined from opening to drydown. It has that expensive niche feel where the notes blend together cleanly instead of just being loud. Mirror Image is the more realistic buy. It may not have every layer, every transition, or the same expensive texture as Faith, but it gives you the overall vibe without having to spend over $2,000. That is the real selling point. Faith is better if money does not matter and you want the prestige, bottle, and full luxury experience. Mirror Image makes more sense if you want to actually wear and enjoy the scent profile without feeling like every spray costs a fortune. PerformanceFaith should feel smoother and more elegant. Mirror Image may come off stronger or punchier at first, but possibly less refined in the drydown. My take: I would not call Mirror Image “cheap” or just a budget option. I would call it the smart wearable option, especially when the alternative is spending Boadicea Faith money. Faith is the flex. Mirror Image is the one most people can actually spray and enjoy. After watching several YouTube videos, reading online reviews, and drawing on my experience as a fragrance enthusiast, I have decided this is the best way to go. This way, I can enjoy the same profile. Of a fragrance that is not normally accessible to most of us or I am not willing to spend that kind of money on the bottle, or a fragrance that is not normally accessible to most of us.
