60 Yard dash
Hey guys, I play outfield and we ran our 3rd 60 Yard dash’s out of 5 we’ll run this for my high school team. I ran a 7.12 Stopwatch time. Is that good for a 15 Y/O and what can i do to drop that time?

@Cohen Mayfield honestly you’re still pretty young in your development so I wouldn’t worry too much about the numbers. Going into my sophomore year I ran a 7.2 at a PG showcase myself but as I continued to work on my body as well as develop with age I naturally got quicker and started running 6.8/6.7s. Testing is always a good measure but it isn’t everything esp in baseball. Continue to work on getting stronger and more explosive with lifts and plyometric/speed work but make sure your focus is always gear towards having all that translate to the game. Would love to talk to you more about this because it sounds super relateable to when I was in HS.
Infielders! Funnel or out in front.
Infielders, do you prefer to funnel or do you prefer to work out in front?

I prefer tackling it at 1B…this year was the first time I’ve played INF consistently since HS but I found for myself the feeling of funneling most balls helped me. Also drop stepping for me was a comfortable feeling because it was something I used on GBs in the OF. I honestly just tried to apply different things I’ve heard coaches talk about over the years and I remember with the mariners they were big on funneling.

@Jake Hager honestly the hardest part for me is the throwing. It’s a different arm slot than the OF so I just try to tell my self be athletic and whip it from a 3/4 probably more side arm slot than anything. The thing that helped me with 1B the most fielding tho was when someone told me it was a one handed position. That helped free me up a bit bc I didn’t feel like I had to slide over and get in this robotic two handed position that I was trying to.

@Cohen Mayfield what’s up brotha. Like @Matthew Whatley said, put yourself out there, closed mouths don’t get fed. With that you have to put in the work and never stop learning and adjusting. Your work/play will always speak louder than your words. Excited to have you here.
