Hiiiii
Hi, I'm new to this. Haven't started yet but I'm wanting to start! Feeling a little spectacle, but will have a try. I'm hoping I can get revenue from this - and make a decent amount on the side while being a student! Any tips with starting?

Very reasonable to be skeptical of 'easy' passive income claims, it’s good to err on the side of caution. I think a lot of that skepticism comes from people saying print on demand is quick, easy, and cheap. While it is incredibly cheap (I'm a student too), I'd say it does take a bit of work and patience. You’ll need to learn a few skills (like SEO and basic Photoshop), but so far I'm finding that the learning curve isn’t too steep, and I'm having quite a bit of fun with it. On a less technical note, I think avoiding burnout is critical to long-term success in print on demand. As someone who's still new to this, I’m eager to put in as much work as possible right now, but I’m also making a conscious effort to pace myself. I don’t want to end up resenting the process and quitting before I see results. Wishing you luck!
Advice!
Hey all. Just wondering, how many listings on your Etsy shop is a good amount? Is it possible to overdo it or have too little offerings? I’m about 2 days into this and loving getting me designs onto my shop. Just wondering when I’ll start to see my first success? I’ve spent a lot of time refining my listings and SEO.

I don't have any personal anecdotes I can share as I've only been doing this for about a week, but considering the nature of print on demand I think a couple hundred is a good goal to aim for. Just try not to burn yourself out spending entire days coughing up as many listings as you can. My current aim is 2-5 quality listings per day, which I'm hoping will accumulate over the next couple of months and quickly turn into hundreds.
First order!
Got an order 5 days in, honestly extremely unexpected. I've been spending most of my time creating mockups and refining my SEO so I wasn't anticipating any orders this soon! Not much but definitely a good motivator, thanks to everyone here for being so helpful and kind :)

@Jarrod Snow I ran ads for a day but turned them off after feeling the need to have a more complete grasp on my store. Certainly not against them and definitely will utilize in the future, but doesn't feel necessary at the moment.

If its adding the sizes themselves that you're struggling with, it can be pretty confusing. When creating and editing a listing, there is a section called 'Variations'. In order to use it, you have to first choose a category in the 'Category' section below it (would recommend choosing either Wall Decor or Wall Hangings if you are doing posters). Then you can click 'Add Variations' and you'll get a whole spew of options. Since you want to add sizes, click the 'Create your own' button and input 'Sizes' or 'Size' for the name. Then you can input all of your different size options. These are what I currently use (you can tailor it to your needs considering the sizes that you personally want to offer): - A5 - 14.8 x 21 cm - A4 - 21 x 29.7 cm - A3 - 29.7 x 42 cm - A2 - 42 x 59.4 cm - A1 - 59.4 x 84.1 cm - 5x7" - 12.7 x 18 cm - 8x10" - 20 x 25 cm - 11x14" - 27 x 35 cm - 11x17" - 28 x 43 cm - 12x18" - 30 x 45 cm - 16x20" - 40 x 50 cm - 16x24" - 40 x 60 cm - 18x24" - 45 x 60 cm - 24x36" - 60 x 90 cm You'll want to input each of the sizes individually. PrintShrimp does offer a few more sizes that I didn't list (A0, 50x70cm, 30x40cm), so if you want to use those you can add them as well. If it's listing speed that you want to enhance then there is a way to get around inputting all of it manually for every listing. What I do is this: - Go to your Shop Manager and click on the 'Listings' tab on the left sidebar - Choose any listing that you currently have posted in your shop and click the settings cog that is under it - You'll see a list of options ('View on Etsy', 'View stats', etc.). You're going to want to click the 'Copy' option - This will create a 'Copy' of the listing you chose. It will use the same photos, description, category, and most importantly, the same tedious variations - Make sure to change the things you need to change. Redo your title, photos, and anything else needed that pertains to your new listing This should be a good workaround to save some time, just make sure to alter the necessary details of the listing so you don't post a copy of an already existing listing (Etsy doesn't like that).

No problem! Wishing you luck :)
Inquiry about niches
We all know how important choosing a niche is for getting sales, but I'm curious about how much we can branch out while still maintaining a cohesive store. If you start with one general theme but find yourself drawn to creating in a different but somewhat related style, does that hurt your shop’s performance? Have you noticed any effects on visibility or how Etsy’s algorithm handles your listings when adding variety?
