Testing
How many coaches and players are running beep tests? I have the beep test app and usually get my players to complete it 2-3 times a season.

@Shane McDonnell Hi Shane, i went to the app store and downloaded Beep Test Police & Military. Its a free app and you have several different options you can use.
Commitment to training?
I've been helping /coaching the same group of girls over 5 years and we've had the same lack of commitment to training from year 1. They're now the senior women's team & with a list of around 23, our average numbers at training are about 10...any ideas much appreciated?

I would personally change it up a bit. I would organise a meal out together as a group. I would tee up sessions away from the club like pool sessions or even spa/sauna recovery sessions. Indoor training at a basketball stadium is always a hit with my players. You could also just have a bonding session at the club and have a few drinks and sit in a circle and bring up the issues to the group and get their feedback and set a few goals along the lines of full team buy in going forward.
Quick question for you…
What age group do you coach? Or where does your child fit from these options? And if you’re a player, where do you fit? Please vote below so I can provide better help for you

Junior u10 Girls Training
My daughter starts u10 girls training next week, any help or tips at this age would be great. I was just going to start of with some basics 1) Making sure the training is fun and the game is fun 2) Doing some basic fundamentals - holding the ball properly and kicking drills, hand passing drills 3) rolling the ball on the ground, learning to get a clean pick up and hand pass etc 4) put some of this in a game scenario Any other advice for this age group?

All those things you mentioned are exactly what I would be focusing on Shane. The basic skills and fundamentals. Focus on getting as many touches as possible into them and a strong focus on the ground ball as that’s where it spends most of its time at that age level. However I would try and run two groups side by side in some of those exercises and turn it into a bit of a race. Kids get easily distracted but competition keeps them engaged. Example: if you are doing a simple land handball drill, form two groups side by side and let each group race each other.
Growing fitness U12 boys
I’ve used a lot of the kicking drills during the season this year and we got some awesome results from the boys. Improved greatly. Next year I’m taking on the coach roll of U12 boys side and was looking for some fitness drills for the short pre season we have and into the next year.

I used to run a really simple drill that had my players very fit and well conditioned without killing them or risking injury. 3 cones 20 meters apart. in groups or 4-5 jog to the first cone, half pace to the second cone and finish with 85% pace to the last cone. Then turn and slow jog back to the starting line. We started at 10 run throughs and built it up by 2 every session til we got to 30 run throughs. Then we reduced them by two every session until we got back to ten.
