How are you/your players going?
We're a couple weeks into the season now - what are you or your players struggling with? Let me know and I'll see if I can help

I coach u11 girls, learning to kick while on the jog/run. Some of the girls can kick straight while they are just standing but as soon as they break into a jog the technique flies out the window and the football just flies any direction.

@Tanya Stafford ahhhh no, Tanya you make it sound like I'm beating up on 10-11 year old girls Lol. But yes, I also see it in older grades with boys as well. I guess what I'm looking for instead of repetition and saying keep practicing is wondering if someone has any tips to give me so I can break it down in steps for them.
Training drills
Hi. I’m coaching u11 girls team. Is there a drill you guys run teaching kids how to spread out during a game and running leads. We practice it at training but come game day it’s all bunched. Is there a drill you guys could help with or is it just the old scenario of repetitively running the same drill until it sinks in?
Wet weather drills
Hi Everyone Can anyone give me any examples of what you do for wet weather drills. Its wet here in Qld right now, but the girls team obviously need to know how to play a different game in the wet weather as its not gong to be dry all the time. Any hints or tips on what some of you experienced coaches do would be great.

@Allan Stephens Hi Allan Thanks mate, I appreciate it, its nice to hear you mentioned quick hand passing and chest marking as that's exactly all I could think of, but your ball to ground drills makes sense as the ball will mostly be on the ground. Low direct chest kicks might be a hair puller as Im still actually trying to get the fundamentals of them kicking properly without throwing the ball etc, BUT like i say to the girls if you dont try it you will never get better. After what you had mentioned I was thinking of running a ground drill where we roll the ball on the ground, one person to get it with someone chasing them. When they get the ball they have a team mate running on to the ball in close range so the ball can be quickly picked up with a short handball to someone on the run. Obviously running close due to wet weather conditions??? Your Thoughts???

Testing
How many coaches and players are running beep tests? I have the beep test app and usually get my players to complete it 2-3 times a season.

Going From a 2-Hand Ball Drop to 1
For many beginner footballers, grasping the 1-hand drop can be very difficult. This video has concepts and drills that will help you coach others to improve theirs. If you have any questions ask them below. Cheers, Josh

@Josh Growden Thanks mate, would you have anything to show the proper technique on how to hold and drop the ball for eg a set shot for goal.

@Josh Growden I honestly don't know mate. I thought it wouldn't be that different, in all honesty I'm only asking as I was talking to someone about the ball drop after watching your video and practicing it myself and someone else said to me its different for a set shot. I got a bit confused, that's honestly the only reason im asking mate.
