Spotify and Bookshop.org shaking things up
So Spotify and Bookshop.org dropped some big news this week. Who has been following along? 1) Draft2Digital and Bookshop.org have teamed up to sell self-published ebooks through Bookshop.org: https://www.publishersweekly.com/pw/by-topic/industry-news/bookselling/article/99616-bookshop-draft2digital-deal.html 2) Spotify and Bookshop.org are teaming up to sell physical books through Spotify: https://newsroom.spotify.com/2026-02-05/bookshop-partnership-page-match-announcement/ 3) Spotify is releasing a Page Match feature which will let readers move seamlessly from print book reading to ebook reading to audiobook listening and back again. It's a one of a kind feature and is kinda revolutionary in how readers interact with books. https://newsroom.spotify.com/2026-02-05/page-match-how-to/ Do you use Spotify for audiobooks currently? It'll be so interesting to see how this shakes things up in terms of discoverability. Spotify is making it so you don't ever have to leave their platform. Curious to hear what you think!

@Gary Anderson Which part do you mean? The page match feature works by scanning a page with your phone and matching it within the app.

@Lora Arbrador Look for Premium 1-1 Coaching Session in the Calendar. They have an appointment link to sign up for a 15 min time slot.
Has anyone used Expresta?
Expresta also offers a hybrid model. You can print only 10 books, and they have a warehouse where they store them. The shipping is next-day, which is quite fast. They always keep the 10-book stock. It is a service in the EU. It could be a good place to sell your book if you have customers inside the EU. I took a quick look, and the issue is that their book sizes are not compatible with Amazon KDP. The book needs a new design to match the metric system. It could work for a hardcover version if there is a demand in the EU for your book. Any experience with the print quality, etc.

Haven’t heard of this one. Good to be aware of. Not being capable with KDP seems like it could be make things tricky. I suppose it comes down to what you need most. But good to know for our EU clients looking for options.
Advice
Should I contact someone to work on my book cover before or after I receive my copyright?

We generally do it after cover design so that can be included. @Elissa Graeser or @Kate Duncan anything to add?
KDP Select?
Hello everyone. I have come to the point where my book is published and is set for release this Thursday the fifth. I am very proud of my work. The title is "Boomers N Bitcoin" by Jerry Hutcheson. Anyone who would like to give me a review I really appreciate it? And I am working diligently on the marketing techniques I learned from Julie and her class. However I do have a question. In order to do a special promotional pricing for the new release I must join KDP select. But I have heard that KDP select keeps users from downloading the book in other formats like PDF etc. What is the tradeoff here and do you recommend it? What advice do you have?

Hi @Jerry Hutcheson - Which of the KDP Select's promos are you hoping to do? It is true KDP won't let you do free pricing on an ebook unless you're KDP select. But you can still do promotional pricing (like $0.99-$3.99) without being KDP Select. Those kinds of ebook sales can do well if you work with other promotional partners to advertise the sale.
