Rocker Plates – Part 2 - A User's Experience
I got lucky, my rocker plates arrived two days late. And about half an hour before the delivery driver rang my doorbell, I came across a YouTube video *** about proper technique. Until that moment, I didn’t even know that there was something to learn. I thought you just jump on, rock around a bit, and then all is well. Apparently, I was wrong. And yes, I'd read the stories: steep learning curves, frustrated buyers reselling their plates within weeks, unable to achieve what they'd expected. I know, everyone learns differently, but if you live somewhere in my neighbourhood on the bell curve, my approach might save you some frustration. Rather than taking up too much space here, I've attached a PDF detailing my first steps. When I began my journey and as I pedalled along, I started writing in my head a little user's guide for myself, which I'm happy to share with you. *** Bike Bonk Biff: https://youtu.be/QvizFk0Ij0Q?si=Mo8SAEP8jLKI0ADV

This is great! I too found the rocker plate a learning curve, but once you've got the hang of it, it's second nature isn't it. I still feel awkward out of the saddle sometimes, but I absolutely love it. Enjoy :)
Fit review
64 yr old road cyclist looking for review of position on bike. Slight back and saddle discomfort after 3+ hour rides on trainer. I also get neck and shoulder pain, but only sometimes?

Sweet bike Denis, I hope I'm on an Aeroad in my 60's too! I have a rocker plate for indoor training and it's really alleviated discomfort on long indoor rides. Do you get the same issues on long outdoor rides? I think no matter how optimised I think my position is, I don't move around anywhere near as much indoors as I do outdoors and so putting something in place to replicate that saves me having to scratch around for a fit solution that may not exist.
Elves Falath EXP
Looking at buying the Elves Falath EXP, anyone got any experience with them and if their geometry is good and how you find it. Aggressive/more relaxed and advice on sizes ect. For reference I am 5ft11 178cm with an 83cm inseam. Saddle height around 745mm and am looking at the 52cm option. Thanks in advance :)

I love mine, I've not had the seat post slipping issue that some have reported, but then mine was built at Crafted and not thrown together for a YouTube review like some :D. I don't find the geo that aggressive but I do have a spacer left in the stack. I think they're a great value offering at circa £1k for a custom painted frameset, the comfort with 32mm tyres is great and it's just so hard to measure "how fast it is", I'd just say it handles well and allows me to get into the best position I can and that's the biggest gain for me. With a groupset and wheels the build was just over £3k and I can't really grumble at that.

Rocker plates
Hi everyone, I (70 yrs young now) ride around 5–6 hours per week on a Kickr Bike, mainly following a structured training plan on Rouvy. Outdoors I usually do fun rides between 30 and 100 km, and after a professional bike fit (IBFI-certified studio), I have no real comfort issues there. My indoor setup is adjusted to match my gravel bike, but after about an hour of training, I start to feel some discomfort—mostly in my hands. To help reduce the effects of static positioning, I’ve just ordered a rocker plate (still waiting for it to arrive). Has anyone here used a rocker plate, and if so, what’s been your experience? Did it make a noticeable difference in comfort or realism during longer indoor sessions?

@Gary Radford Cheers Gary! I use the "TurboRocks Realplate" - https://www.turborocks.com/products/the-realplate which is a rocker plate that moves side to side. It's not "cheap" at £399 and I was hesitant when buying, so didn't buy the £549 "Realplate React" https://www.turborocks.com/products/the-realplate-react. In terms of installation it was super easy and all of the guides are on the website, I use a Kickrbike too so you likely know the hardest part is the weight of the bike. I've used it for around a year now and only had to top up the air in the balls once or twice, it's been flawless. I didn't get the anti-slip coating and wish I did, as I did slip once when getting on the bike in cleats but I'm just extra careful now. I was suffering with fatigue of contact points, mostly my saddle and wrists during long indoor rides and the rocker plate has completely fixed that. I did already know my position and saddle suited me though, so it was purely a constant pressure related issue in my opinion. It feels weird at first, but when you get used to it, it feels completely normal. I have since spoken to someone who has the "React" which moves forwards and backwards too and he said that he found that was a bigger benefit than the side to side movement as he'd tried both. I think for next winter I'll let my partner have this one and get the full movement one for me. I don't think it fixes a poor fit, but if it's just comfort related from staying still for a while then it's definitely worth a go. Hope that helps, Daniel
🎥 Free Webinar: Why Most Bike Fit Problems Happen?
🗓️ Friday February 6th 🕓 4pm We’ll be running our first live webinar for the community, looking at why bike fit problems happen in the first place, and why random adjustments so often fail to fix them. We’ll cover: - Why most fit issues aren’t caused by one wrong component position - Common traps people fall into when making changes - How to think more clearly about position before adjusting anything - Bike Fitter Q and A afterwards This is about understanding, not prescriptions, and should be useful whether you’re dealing with a current issue or just want to improve how you think about your own bike fit. 📅 Details and sign-up are in the calendar. If you can’t make it live, a recording will be available. Feel free to drop any questions or themes you’d like covered in the comments.
