Stress and Relaxation
What do you go to when you feel stressed or just need to relax? This past week, I had a moment where I realized… wow, I’ve been way more stressed than I thought 😅And funny enough, trying to force myself to relax just made me feel more tense. Then something unexpected happened. I started working on a tracker for our upcoming challenge, and when I shut my computer off, I noticed I felt totally calm. Being in my creative zone relaxed me more than wax melts, playing solitaire, or even reading—and I love reading 🤦🏽‍♀️ It reminded me that real relaxation isn’t always what we think it should be. So I’m curious 👇 What actually works for you? What makes your body relax so much that time just flies by? Drop it below 💜

I think I'm right there with you. It's so funny how "forcing" relaxation can almost have the opposite effect. One word that has helped me choose better is "nourish." What nourishes my soul? ... and that is typically ALWAYS something creative, whether reading a fiction book, listening to music, or even just reconnecting with nostalgia from my past connected to good memories that remind me to dream again, color outside the lines, and be a bit messy. When I get to actually create something, it feels a bit magical for me and I find myself not wanting to stop and feeling SO good.

@Philomène Cauchois That's amazing! I've had a few sessions and felt better, but I'd love to try it for something more focused.
Family Time
Hi Mamas! 🌸 I hope you each have a great weekend. As you think about and plan your own personal fun time also take time for family. We tend to feel guilty taking time to do our own creative activities because we feel it takes away from what we do for our families. What if our families helped us have time to ourselves? I am learning that when I whole heartedly give my attention to family fun activities the easier it is for me to carve out my time that my family respects. I have less interruptions which takes some getting used to. And you know what this helps reduce that guilty feeling. Have you found this to be true with your family? What do you do to get some uninterrupted time? Have a blessed weekend ladies💜

@Rachelle Ferrell That's pretty much what I was going to comment. I started doing the intentional focused family time a while back because when I was working or had time to myself all I'd do is think of them and feel guilty. If I have to work or need "me time" I'll follow it up by having some fun outdoor time, game, or movie, etc. with my family afterwards. Also, we homeschool, so I have found more flexibility with my "me time" now where we all can get some free time at the same time. My kids are finally at the ages where they like having their own free time, so it's a lot better for me now, but still got some work to do.

@Christine Ross How old is your son? I feel like each year as my kids grew I was able to get a teeny bit more Me Time here and there.
Mom Survival Tactics 😂
Hey mama 💜 Quick question… because we’ve all been there. When your kids were little and you just needed a few minutes to breathe, what did you do? Did you hide in the bathroom? Put yourself in a “time-out”? Turn on a show and sit very still? 😅 No judgment. No shame. Only real-life mom tricks. Share your best (or funniest) way you got a few quiet minutes. Your idea might help another mama survive today 😂

@Megan Webb Self-time-outs were a HUGE help for me. I was a closet person too. It was like a decompression chamber.

@Philomène Cauchois Oh the joy of uninterrupted tv time! LOL That's a great "treat" even if you are still doing other things. Sometimes, just for our minds to be able to disconnect for a bit and relax...

Choosing Alignment Over Perfection. Every Time.
Hey Mama🌸 Let me remind you of something real quick. Just because your creative routine doesn’t look like the perfectly planned, aesthetic routines you see online doesn’t mean it’s not working. Some of the strongest routines are messy on purpose. The kind you do with kids awake, in 15 minute pockets, with interruptions and noise in the background. Because those are the routines you actually stick with. If we want creativity to be part of our real lives, we have to stop forcing it into a rigid box. It has to flex with the day. Trust me, I’ve made changes to my own routine recently, and keeping up with it has not been easy. This year is all about consistency for me, so I’ve been trying to protect my evenings for creative fun. And then life does what life does. Things pop up. Plans get shifted. As a recovering, and still very much struggling, perfectionist, I have to keep reminding myself that I don’t need a big, uninterrupted chunk of time. A few minutes still count. Doing something is always better than doing nothing. So mama, remember this. Alignment with your goals beats perfection every single time. You’ve got this 💜

Powerful reminder! I do get caught up in looking at it like I need a big chunk of time to finish a project or do a lot in one sitting. 5-15 intentional mins can be just as rewarding.

@Philomène Cauchois Yes, definitely. Especially when my kids were little, I would try to squeeze what I could into 5-15 minute chunks. I need to go back to that mindset. ;-)
