Christmas Attire Traditions
Morning, bit of a biased question given the nature of this group, but is it a cultural thing to dress up for Christmas and New Year's? Saw a post on Threads where someone attended a family event in Europe, think the husband was American and the wife's family European. The husband attended in decent but casual clothing while the wife's family were in suits and dresses. Wondering if this is a European thing, given this group is, I assume, heavily American, hoping for a good comparison of views. The comments were either 'why are they dressed up, who dresses up for Christmas/New Year's' or 'Everyone dresses up for Christmas and New Year's'. No in between, one extreme or the other. I never knew this was a thing, and if I'm honest, I've never dressed up for either. In our family, we're in pyjamas all day for both. At first, I thought the post was in reference to extended family get-togethers, which would have made sense, but I think it was just the family on Christmas Day and New Year's Eve at home. I've also noticed it in a group chat I'm in for my volunteer work; everyone who put in greeting videos was clearly dressed up. So my question is, is it a cultural/social class thing to dress up for Christmas and New Year's, or something everyone does? Thanks.

I feel like a hypocrite saying this but while I’d dress smart casual when flying, if someone flies in sweats or other comfortable clothing I’ve really no issue. Flying, especially longer-range flights, can be stresses full and uncomfortable being stuck in the same seat for hours on end. Cosy clothing can be the difference between stressed and relaxed, or at least tolerable. Plus carrying capacity can limit people, whenever I fly I’ve only ever taken a single carry-on on rucksack with me so I’m limited in what I can carry.
Fall style choices:
Fall question! What do you all prefer for your October/November Saturday & Sunday outings? 1)Flannel 2)Sweatshirt 3)Hoodie And what do you typically pair with your said choice?

Never been a fan of hoodies even as a kid. Sweatshirt is usually a preference weather permitting.
Forgotten Accessories?
How many people still have and use cufflinks? It seems to be less common over the years to see men rocking a nice set which is a shame.

I'd like to try them but never got around to buying the shirts that fit them.
Signitures
So 'style' question. Not traditional style, but what's everyone's stance on signatures and how they're written when signing documents? I've always signed my name in print, but wondering what everyone's opinion is on that and how it ties into a personal style and social standing. We haven't taught cursive in Britain since the 60s/70s, so my signature has only ever been in print.

@Jack Bowman I still write heavily by hand and sign documents at work, but don’t know anyone that uses cursive.

@Nicholas Logan Cursive was removed in the mid 20th century as it was found to be obsolete and took to much time to teach properly. We replaced it by 'joined up' writing that was simplified and focused on efficiency over ornate. Northern Ireland stopped teaching it, I think, around 2010ish, though England still has it. Education here is dealt with nationally and not something individual schools deal with.
