MOSS! 🪴✨
Maybe I'll forage some moss to make a mini vivarium today! Seems like a fun project 😁👍🌱 Have you tried propagating moss??

What a great video! I think moss is my favourite thing about living in the PNW (other than our usually mild weather!). They are such beautiful little plants. The book called Gathering Moss by Robin Wall Kimmerer is a delight. And of course I love a mossy stone in a creek! 😻

I love these spring flowers! (Daffodils are out of focus in the background!)

I’m an apartment dweller and my balcony is only permitted to have five three gallon containers- you know I have the max full of things, including a fig tree, green onions and lettuce - I don’t get a lot of light here and I’m interested in hearing suggestions for other edibles I could grow in containers. I am fortunate to also have a community garden plot about a third of a mile from home and it’s full full sun. I’ve planted garlic and left some tomatoes to self seed. I will also probably plant some potatoes and snow peas too. I have a somewhat picky eater to feed so I keep the foods pretty … conventional I guess!

I’m so excited by this video! Melanie, do you know if western red cedar is also a colonizer of disturbed areas? I have a trail race this summer which I wasn’t particularly looking forward to because a chunk of it goes through a clear cut area - all too common out here - and now I am looking forward to looking for the colonizer plants! Thank you so much! 🧡
Y'all Ready for This?❄️😲
Hopefully this won't be bad but if you're in an area that might be impacted, make sure you've got back up water, heat and canned food. I live mostly off grid already but I'm checking in with neighbors and preparing for the worst just in case👍🌱

Whew, stay warm friends! I won’t go on about wearing sandals and no socks outside today 😁
