Mallow edible
Just saw a video on rednote that showed a Palestinian man making the traditional dish khubiza, using mallow leaves. Turns out we have a lot of them here and the internet says they are edible. Need to confirm, but I want to try this.

Seems like mushrooms are popping! I found this beautiful cluster of oysters on a stump in my front yard, and a bunch of Virginia pine (?) needles that will either be decor or pine needle soda if they are a true pine needle.

The needles are in clusters of two, a little over 3 inches long, with a sharp point.

I have the most amazing memory of my parents finding a huge field full of milkweed at that stage, and my brother and I just ran around knocking a million seeds into the wind. I found some seeds a month ago and in going to plant them in a ditch on my property. Long live milkweed!

Found this lovely little piece of usnea on the ground aka old man's beard that I'm going to throw into my tea when I get home.

What a crazy day. I spent a lot of it couch locked, sad, angry, watching the news and scrolling social media. Anyway. I think this is a false strawberry peaking up through the grass. I think real wild ones around me (central VA) tend to have striped leaves...can anyone confirm or correct?

@Melanie Weird haha, I was just studying the plant vocabulary in your book and I got excited to see the word serrated and I knew exactly what you meant!
