Well since I last joined just two short days ago I will say I have been able to keep my screen time on TikTok to a low. Which was a main part of my day and would consume hours of it, if I let it. I have started to get back in the gym and even began going on runs with a friend and am trying to be more consistent and focused with school work and studying instead of procrastinating till the due date. I am feeling slightly better, although it be only two days. Today I let myself slip back and despite me getting my school work and studying done, I was mentally and physically too tired to convince myself to do much else. I have started to be more conscious of breathing techniques and a close friend of mine helped voice for its effectiveness. This is really only the beginning and although it be a slow start, I am hoping to keep the energy snowballing forwards.
My personal Strategy❤️‍🔥
There are so many ways to fight dopamine, but I personally have found that in order to take the reins, I have to start early in the morning. everything from the first move I make from the wakeup all plays a crucial role. MY FIRST STEPS: From the second I wake up I attempt to take control of my habits. I recall the beginning of quarantine is when I first took notice of my habits. Constantly waking up being forced to be in a state of consumption. Society had normalized doing nothing but consume for months so honestly, it's normal! the FIRST THING I do is take note of my phone alarm, turn it off, and throw my phone to the far side of my bed. I know all too well it's so easy to check your notifications and scroll for a bit then jump back to sleep. But I have to warn you guy's the beginning of the day is the most crucial. Why? It's because the beginning of the day obviously is going to set the tone/mood, for the rest of your day. I won't give you the unrealistic approach of, going on a 10-mile run first thing in the morning, hitting a new bench pr, or even recording a hour long vid off the rip. those are the standards I've seen some of these guru's push and let's be honest here. NONE OF THESE GUYS PRACTICE WHAT THEY PREACH. START SMALL✅ some of my personal favorites are just simple mindfulness techniques: ✔️: Write a list of 10 things I'm grateful for ( I usually start with being alive, the most obvious) ✔️: take a moment and step outside/expose yourself to sun light (regulates cortisol, melatonin. Better cognitive function, Lower stress- the list goes on for ages) ✔️: take 10 minutes to reflect on 5 good things you did especially well yesterday. (Practice good self-images) ✔️️: reflect on 5 things you preformed on poorly on yesterday, and ways you can improve in those respective areas. ✔️: DEEP BREATHING- regulate your nervous system. 🤝I personally have to give a huge emphasis on deep breathing, I think there is so many benefits behind just practicing proper breathing techniques. And to relate it all to dopamine, the improving of attention span is already putting it at a A+ MORNING HABIT.

Hey Christian, I just joined this group today and have definitely become more self aware of how my dopamine controls my actions. My biggest problem is figuring out to fill my day with productive tasks and refraining from going back to a disruptive one after the fact. There’s so many hours in the day, how do you personally keep your day balanced between feeling productive and knowing when it’s ok to lay back and be unproductive? Going to the gym and school can help take up big portions of my day (4-6 hours depending) and if I account for a sleep of at least 8-10 hours, and say I can keep myself busy with learning a new skill or reading a book, etc. What am I supposed to do the remaining time in my day? Am I looking at this the wrong way?
