Retro camera
Saw someone with a retro camera recently and it looked like a lot of fun. Curious if anyone has tried anything like it and any recommendations.

I might be able to give some sort of a recommendation/opinion, but when you say retro, how retro we talking? What did you see?

@Mohammed Al-aidaroos Awesome, that gives me a better idea, since I was thinking something along the lines of film or even plates. Initially I thought that was just a disposable camera, but it looks like its a digital camera. More modern then retro, but could be fun hobby wise! That said, if you are trying to simply get better with photography/update your Instagram with quality photos, I would suggest going a different route. If you are trying to implement what you're learning in the course regarding photos, I think a smart phone would actually outperform the camera above, and you wouldn't have to invest in a DSLR or mirrorless or any combo flavors. Speed of implementation is going to be better with the most streamlined and readily available tool--this case, your phone is probably the way to go. If you want to learn a bit about photography as well, a DSLR with manual focus capability would be a fantastic start.
Advice/Recommendations/Celebrating a Win
Not exactly a forum where military advice is the topic of discussion; however, I have noticed that some of you have either served or are serving, in addition to many of you being leaders/in leadership roles and was hoping to get some advice/share a win. First and foremost, normally I would just keep this to myself because I prefer to just keep my accomplishments to myself--but really wanted to shout this one out since I could not be any more stoked. I am also currently working through my "lonely chapter" and I hoped here would be a solid option for sharing. After months of going through getting a moral waiver for an arrest I got right out of high school around 12 years ago (stupid fucking decision I made, but have not been in any trouble since). It started to look like I was not going to be able to, but just got approved last Friday and signed an 11x contract with option 4 yesterday. Don't leave till the end of May, so I got some time to improve/change somethings. Talked myself out of enlisting out of high school due to a mild color vision deficiency which can be disqualifying for many combat jobs. So, instead of letting the Army disqualify me, I disqualified myself. Recently decided I needed to determine once and for all is this was a path I could not pursue, and low and behold, I passed the red/green color vision test and qualified for airborne. So on top celebrating the above, I wanted to inquire for some advice. What are somethings I can do now to improve my ability to lead? Whether that be to read a specific book/s, or take certain actions? I want to be an asset to the men and women I serve with down the line, and anything I can do now to improve my ability to be that, I would like to pursue. Is there any recommendations on improving my ability to not just lead, but also be part of a team? Teams are only as good as their weakest link and I would like to be the strongest possible link I can be. Or would being a strong teammate go hand-in-hand with being a strong leader?

@Karim Gonzalez Thank you! I am a little nervous, but that is overshadowed completely by how excited I am. Understood I will look into these three. I noticed that, "The Dichotomy..." book has a companion work book, would you recommend getting it alongside the book? Understood, I will look into these men as well! I am endeavoring to be better at not attempting to take everything on, on my own and hence my desire to be a better teamate. Thank you! I really appreciate the recommendations and your time!

@Anthony DiRico Understood, I will look into leading projects more at my current job--at least for the next three months that I remain employed there. Sounds like a good skill for increasing ones skills of observation too. I will keep my eyes open in my day to day to see where I can practice taking responsibility for things that aren't my responsibility as well then. Thank you for the response and the recommendation, I really appreciate your time!

1. Don't get caught up on the shit that dribbles out of peoples mouths; focus instead on the actions they commit to. It'll save you time, heartache, and keep you focused. 2. Have the pity party, address what's bothering you for a set short amount of time, and than do the fucking work that needs to be done--through pain, fear, discomfort, and anything in between. 3. Just put one foot in front of the other. Just cuz you're in the dark, does not mean the path stops. Have faith in at least yourself to continue on no matter the circumstances. You'll either die, or you'll be able to take another step.

I became a member this year, the start of last month--Aug 2024. I am in California. My main reason for joining and still is my long term goal here is to find/develop a tribe. Not sure how long I have searching for one now, but it's been only recently (this year) I realized how much I missed having one. Short term, I would like to learn how to network and use social media as a tool for social and financial growth...come to think of it, that's also probably a long term goal. Short term: Improve my Instagram. Should have gotten this introduction done earlier, but kept overthinking it and putting it off. That said, my main goal outside of MOA, is I want to be an Army Ranger. So most of my efforts go towards training, eating, and mindset improvement. All that said, it is a pleasure to meet everyone here and I am looking forward to what's left of the year.
