Photo advice
@Ty Buchanan I have few photo of me also most photos I have are from past places I have been but I'm not in the photos . so my question is, should I just hire somebody to take some photos of me for Instagram since I’m building one from scratch? What should I do? Any advice would be appreciated

I would grab someone you have a good relationship with and ask for them to help you take photos. When I first started out I found other guys who lived nearby. We went out and got photos for each other. That would be my recommendation. No real need to hire a photographer. Most photographers will make the photo about you. They think you want a photo of you in a location, and not "the location and you happen to be there." That is what you want to achieve with your photos. You want to show off a cool place and have yourself in it to show you are there.
Instagram Target Audience
The training said to look at the example IGs and find one to use as a base. I checked them out but none of them feel right for where I live. My city is more blue collar and bush parties and the nearest major city is 8 hours away. So am I supposed to design my Instagam around the audience I'm more likely to actually meet in real life, or an arbitrary internet audience just to ramp up follower count?

It is possible to build a good IG in the middle of cornfields. I did it in a small town in Indiana. https://www.instagram.com/ty_p_buchanan/ I had to travel either 3+hours one way to major cities or travel to bigger cities if I wanted to get more high-venue shots. Getting other guys from the Forum to link up to take shots was a help. I just used my iPhone for most of these shots. For rural, its about travel to unique locations (and knowing how to make them look unique) and getting content at fun events you go to or host.

@Robert Girardin you have access to a scarce resource... knowledge. Look at this video of girls reacting to Bill Nye (who has status from demonstrating knowledge on TV and becoming well known) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WP4Jr68D5QQ Luckily, everyone today has a "TV" in their pocket you can create content for using social media.

No. You put yourself as the subject of the photo and not THE LOCATION as the subject. This is a photo of "you at this place" not "this place and you happen to be in it" Only women and celebs (men with status or demonstrating access to a scarce resource) can get away with close up images of themselves. For guys in MOA, its about our lifestyle, not us. People don't care about us, but they do care about what we do. Look up "rule of thirds". You want to take up about 1/6th of the photo and place yourself on an intersect of where the "thirds" meet up. Think like this... what makes a celeb photo a celeb photo? It is the paparazzi taking a photo of them just going about their day doing whatever at wherever. You are posed in the center of this image because you wanted a "photo of you" Instead, you should have shown off way more of where you are at, and just so happen to be "caught in the act" of being there. Think of yourself in a photo as a "watermark" that you were really there. That is really all the importance of us being in a photo. Examples: https://www.instagram.com/p/C5yvD0tPTCr/ https://www.instagram.com/p/CeUCHPiOFXF/ https://www.instagram.com/p/CwvUGErLEZV/ https://www.instagram.com/p/Co8McK-Ph4V/ https://www.instagram.com/p/CnQPEAbrxxJ/ You can get away with a more close up image if you are at a place associated with status: https://www.instagram.com/p/C2vaFujRWDD/ Keep at it šŸ’Ŗ
