Acquiring a STR in personal name or LLC
Hi Anna, Question: I am currently looking to purchase a STR before the EOY 2025. My spouse & I both have FT W2s & I have an LLC. We are looking for the best tax deductions. My husband is a manager for my LLC but I am the sole owner. What would be the best route to go that would save us the most in taxes; acquiring the STR in our personal names or the LLC? Appreciate your response.

I wasn't able to attend live but just listened to the recording. Loved the trivia questions. I actually work for a large HealthCare Insurance Company, and I manage multiple audits where we review inpatient hospital & some outpatient claims to ensure the billing is correct. Anyway, thanks for the great information. I do have an HSA but haven't used it to loan an investor but hoping to do so in the near future. Thanks again for the great info.... lots to always learn.

@Ana Klein, CPA just a suggestion. People that have to stay in the hospital should ask for their itemized bill. This will show every single charge that the hospital billed. It gives people a good perspective on how much hospitals are charging & why premiums are so high.
INTRO:Let's connect
I have been studying REI for the past 7 years & am finally over my analysis paralysis (blame it on my nursing instructors-can never make a mistake-lol) but am actively looking for my first STR property. I have a FT W2 & am eager to learn more about taxes & tax deductions through REI. I need deductions especially since I can't deduct my kiddos anymore. I would like to purchase at least 1 STR, then some other rentals that I can use for MT/LT. Once I have some rental properties under my belt I'd like to fix/flip a property or two. But for now my focus is on acquiring that first STR with a goal of closing before end of November or sooner of 2025.

Intro - Hello! 👋
Hi everyone! I'm Jennifer and I own 2 businesses. 1 - a home cleaning business in College Station, TX and 2 - a virtual bookkeeping firm. I'm always trying to learn more about how my husband and I can pay ourselves first and not over pay in taxes from our income, as well as flag my clients when I think they should reach out to a CPA about tax savings. I think I can learn a lot here! What I have to offer would be helping people organize their books or financial operations to make your life easier. Always happy to connect with others!

@Jennifer Montoya I'll be honest. I do really good for a quarter or two & then...I 'm not good.I don't know why because I know how painful & time consuming it is when I haven't kept track & have to submit all the paperwork.
