How to Stand Up From A Back Float
Caribe Nation, Many of you have asked how to stand up from a backfloat. Step 1: Slowly look at your toes Step 2: Bring your knees into your chest Step 3: Do a BIG circle with your arm(s) Step 4: Bring your feet to the ground Remember, practice is the key to proficiency. Leave your comments below! BIG Love, Coach Jeff P.S. For my American swimmers, Happy 4th of July 🧨

Thank you for this one too Coach @Jeff Wood I have not been able to master standing up from back float. I'll try this when I get back into swimming 😁
How to Turn Around On Your Front & Back
Caribe Nation, @Roger Barron had a great question about how to turn around on your front and back in a smaller pool. To answer that question, I jumped into my backyard pool and recorded a quick video to demonstrate. Let me know in the comments your thoughts! BIG Love, Coach Jeff

Thank you Coach @Jeff Wood this will be a good one for when I start swimming further into the deep end..if I panic, can turn around and make my way to the shallow end 😊

@Jeff Wood thank you so much, I really appreciate it. It will come to use when I resume my swimming lessons 😀.
First breaths in swimming - breakthrough!!!
Hi everyone. I've had a massive phobia around breathing whilst swimming. Because mentally I have always believed, "I can't swim," when someone says, 'ok, just lift your head and take a breath,' I'm like, 'wait, what now? But I can't swim. I'm gonna get a gulp of water, not air!' I tried and tried on my own, but every time I did, the panic would kick in, and we know what happens when we panic. So I paid to have a taster session with a 1-2-1 swimming company, and it was money well spent. She gave me a noodle to go across my body & under my arms, told me to do doggie paddle with my face in the water & lift forwards for a breath. Easy with the noodle! Then she told me the noodle wasn't really supporting me & demonstrated the fact it goes straight under when you put weight on it; the quicker I got off it the better. So I tried it & was able to take a forward breath, my first ever.🥳🥳🥳 ( I had a few lifting attempts, with an open mouth & no air intake..... I swapped to a constant blow of air so when I came up I needed air. That helped.) But not only that, we moved to front crawl & I was again able to take a breath!🥳🥳🥳 She ended by saying in her assessment I'd only need about 3 more lessons, possibly less with her, before I'd be swimming on my own comfortably! So I should continue doing what I'd been doing and just keep practicing. Having her there, being only concerned with my swimming ability, was extremely helpful for me. She boosted my confidence too. And finally, she breathed through her mouth, which I hadn't tried.... for some reason I was breathing out through my nose under water. The moment I changed to breathe out through my mouth, massive difference in comfort. So now I'm keen to try going back to the front glide with a forward breath, cos I think I might be able to do it now. I'll let you know when I go back & try it. And I know some may think, 'well hang on, you already took a breath doing front crawl, you can swim!' Well, there's still some discomfort around the action. I'm aiming for complete relaxation in the water, so I don't mind taking it slow. I'll be a better swimmer for it in the end! And the majority of my progress is thanks to the coaches here at Caribe Swim. I'll continue with these guys. That suits me just fine!🏊🏽‍♀️🥳

Congratulations @Georgina Morrison 🥳
Frustrated! 😠
Hi everyone! This is kinda swim related, but not... Then it occurred to me some of you might have the same issue, so I'm making this post. I work 2 hours drive away from where I live, Monday to Thursday morning. Door to door on public transport it's at least 3 hours, but I'm blessed cos I have someone to drive me there and usually someone else to drive me back. Once I arrive at work I stay until the work week is ended. I was going swimming on Sunday mornings at my local pool, at which I'm really comfortable, probably because I know it and it's familiar, & I can walk into the water easily and gracefully as it gradually gets deeper from a 'beach' area. But for a variety of reasons I haven't been back home on a weekend to be able to swim since February or March!! Someone suggested I could find a local pool & go whilst at work, but I see nothing but issues around that: needing to get comfortable with a new pool environment, needing to enter the water & look cool 😎 at the same time (!🤣), but mostly energy - I'm pooped at the end of the day. When am I gonna find time to swim??? I'm up for a short workout at 5.45am. I prepare & get in to work early. I'm a teacher. There's always more work to do. Teaching can take over your whole life if you're not careful! It's also exam season so things are pretty intense. On top of that, as a music teacher there are always programmes and performances to organise; last weekend we sang in Austria. The kids did really well. But now I've done too much, without getting to bed early enough, or eating the proper nutrients and I've had to spend a long weekend, with a bank holiday Monday in bed to recuperate!🤦🏾‍♀️ Generally, at the end of the school day I can't imagine trying to swim. It's not yet a 2nd nature activity, so I need to focus my attention for swimming.... I dunno, I just think to go at the end of the day is to invite an experience of drowning! And ain't nobody tryna do dat up in here! So, I find myself, with a new love for swimming, but no time to get to the pool! And I'm finding that really frustrating.

Hi Coach @Meredith Barrington that's not fair that either of you are stay up late etc, I did not suggest weekends as you'll might be spending time with your own family. However, if this is an option by any chance, on Saturdays I can do between 3pm and 9pm and on Sundays, I can do 10am to 10pm. Not sure if this is any better?

Hi Coach @Meredith Barrington we will need to park this call for now please. I will be cancelling my swimming lessons, as I am returning to the UK soon. I will be in touch when I sign up for lessons again, but that will probably be in a few months time 😞
