Hi everyone! This is kinda swim related, but not... Then it occurred to me some of you might have the same issue, so I'm making this post.
I work 2 hours drive away from where I live, Monday to Thursday morning. Door to door on public transport it's at least 3 hours, but I'm blessed cos I have someone to drive me there and usually someone else to drive me back. Once I arrive at work I stay until the work week is ended.
I was going swimming on Sunday mornings at my local pool, at which I'm really comfortable, probably because I know it and it's familiar, & I can walk into the water easily and gracefully as it gradually gets deeper from a 'beach' area.
But for a variety of reasons I haven't been back home on a weekend to be able to swim since February or March!!
Someone suggested I could find a local pool & go whilst at work, but I see nothing but issues around that: needing to get comfortable with a new pool environment, needing to enter the water & look cool π at the same time (!π€£), but mostly energy - I'm pooped at the end of the day. When am I gonna find time to swim???
I'm up for a short workout at 5.45am. I prepare & get in to work early. I'm a teacher. There's always more work to do. Teaching can take over your whole life if you're not careful!
It's also exam season so things are pretty intense. On top of that, as a music teacher there are always programmes and performances to organise; last weekend we sang in Austria. The kids did really well.
But now I've done too much, without getting to bed early enough, or eating the proper nutrients and I've had to spend a long weekend, with a bank holiday Monday in bed to recuperate!π€¦πΎββοΈ
Generally, at the end of the school day I can't imagine trying to swim. It's not yet a 2nd nature activity, so I need to focus my attention for swimming.... I dunno, I just think to go at the end of the day is to invite an experience of drowning! And ain't nobody tryna do dat up in here!
So, I find myself, with a new love for swimming, but no time to get to the pool! And I'm finding that really frustrating.
When do you make time for swimming? What challenges that and how have you overcome it? And how do you enter your pool gracefully? π
