1. Go swimming more consistently 2. Conquer my fear of the back float 3. Improve technique. And a stretch goal : to complete the shallow water instructions and move on to deep water so that I can swim anywhere.
Need your help: How to Hold Your Breath
Caribe Nation, I’m working on a secret project that is going to CHANGE THE GAME... Jan 1, 2026, you will have access to a tool that gives you the exact solution to EVERY fear, mistake, or panic moment in learning to swim. BUT, to make it perfect, I need your experience. Question: What happens to you when you try to put your face in the water and hold your breath? Tell me the truth β€” not the filtered version. Think about: - What you feel (fear, panic, overwhelm) - What you think (β€œI’ll drown,” β€œI can’t breathe,” β€œI’ll lose control”) - What your body does (nose burns, chest tightens, tense neck, water in nose) - Any emotional or spiritual reactions (β€œsomething bad will happen,” β€œI’m not safe,” etc.) - Any strategies you have used to master this step - How many [estimated] practice repetitions this took to master - Any additional information you think may help!Β  Big or small. Logical or not. Doesn’t matter. If it happens, I want to know it. Your answers will help me create a tool that solves these problems for you and every new adult swimmer who comes after you. Post your experience below! BIG Love.– Coach Jeff P.S. I will be sending another email on your front floating experience later this week. I would love your continued support then as well!

- What I feel - Intense fear! Discomfort. Panic. Anxiety. - What I think - I don't like this! It burns my eyes! Not so bad if I hold my nose, but I can't hold my nose and swim! Don't like the feeling around my nose. I want it to stop. Don't make me do it again. - What my body does - everything becomes tense. Nothing is relaxed. Eyes are screwed tight. Face is screwed up. Heart is racing. - Any emotional or spiritual reactions - I'll probably end up breathing in water and end up drowning because of it if I do this for any length of time. Everybody is looking and can see how much of a baby I am in the water because I can't do this! This is so embarrassing! - Any strategies I have used to master this step - your strategy of relaxing before doing anything, and not moving on before feeling fully relaxed at the stage I'm at has helped tremendously. It seems really simple when you think about it, but swimming lessons don't usually teach you this. This has been gold dust for me. Also goggles! They allow me to see (which makes me curious) and it's one less thing to think about! - How many [estimated] practice repetitions this took to master - Once I realised I didn't have to progress until I was 100% comfortable to move on, the pressure to progress was removed and I was able to fully relax. This alone meant my progress was much quicker and I mastered this step in one session. - Any additional information I think may help! -Β Relaxation is the key, along with leaving tension outside the pool, and not moving on until 100% comfortable. Tune in to the body and if there is any tension anywhere don't try to progress until that tension is dealt with.

Hey Coach Jeff, you hit the nail on the head. I used to dread swimming lessons! Your method has helped me find the joy in swimming! I look forward to going to the pool and feel a sense of accomplishment when leaving. Thanks for all you do for us. πŸ™πŸΎπŸ₯³πŸ₯³πŸ₯³πŸ™πŸΎ
Progressing?
Hello everyone! I trust you had a lovely holiday season. I was unable to swim for about 2 months!πŸ™ˆ I thought I might forget everything but I went to the pool on Sunday and all is well. I was so relaxed in the water. I can still blow bubbles out and lift my head on the front glide to take a breath.... though not as gracefully as I'd like so I think more practice is in order. But I started thinking about floating on my back and doing front crawl and if I'd ever learn breast stroke properly... And then I remembered: why am I thinking about moving on when I'm not yet 100% comfortable with the current action? So I told myself, "take a chill pill, Georgina," and I just enjoyed being in the water. I had soooo much fun! And for me, that is progress. How are you getting on with your swimming journey? Don't give up and don't beat yourself up about not making 'enough' progress either. Just keep going. And have fun!😁

Glad you're back safely. I've unfortunately missed the past live sessions so I'm not sure what you discussed. But maybe you could talk about the importance of mindset and belief in our ability to succeed, because that is the key to being able to continue stepping outside our comfort zones. Just a suggestion. 😊
