There’s just something missing in the moment where someone decides “yes… I want to be part of this.” Most people never see it… so they keep sharing, posting, inviting… and nothing really changes. Once that piece clicks, your content starts working differently. People don’t just see it… they step in. And really, if it's not fun, why TF do it? I never really loved exercise. But then I joined a dragon boat team and it started to be fun. So much so, that I, somewhat of a couch potato, got my shit together enough to win a world championship in a sport I'd never heard of — in my 40s. Yep, that really happened. And entrepreneurship... I can't abide the boring stuff like crunching the numbers and the lead gen and the blah blah blah. So in order to do it, I had to make my business fun. And that carries over to my community. Inside, I recently made the analogy that your role as a provider is like being the pit crew for a race car driver. If you're on the wrong side of the track when they need you, they've got no chance in hell of winning the race. And then there was a side conversation about funnels being like boxes of donuts (which went a little off the rails TBH) but what came out of the whole debacle was this amazing pic from the imaginative @Heather Boers - a pit crew and race car using my community logo 🤣. And now I want a custom Lego set. And donuts. And a branded toy race car. Sigh. The best I could come up with was a mug, a sticker, and a bucket hat (yes, I just dropped merch!) 🤪 The point I'm trying to make is that entrepreneurship can be fun. Building your business can be colorful, bold, a bit zany, "unprofessional" (whatever that means) and still successful. YOUr brand starts with YOU. And you can fill your funnel with cartoon characters, hot pink and neon green faux race cars on a donut track, or lamborghinis and champagne. It's YOUR funnel. So have fun, be yourself, and forget all the guru (and Uncle Bob's) advice. You'll attract your true believers and repel the rest. We left corporate to do it our own way, right? Yes, there are some rules to funnel-building. You need a clear path that helps a stranger become a follower, then a buyer, then a raving fan. But how you do that is up to you. It's the same as hosting a party... is it a casual BBQ in the back yard with no-rules croquet and cornhole games, or is it a fancy-pants 6-course meal with tablecloths and 3 kinds of forks? Neither one is right, but only one is right for you.
