Have Fun!
🛼 SK8SHOT fam, real question for everyone…What’s the one thing you’re currently working on in your skating — balance, speed control, backwards flow, transitions, or just building confidence? Everyone here is from different cities, levels, and styles… which makes this group powerful. Drop yours below and maybe share one tiny technique that helped you level up recently. You never know who it might help. I’ll start the thread once a few people jump in — let’s see what everyone’s cooking on wheels today. 🔥

I’ve been working on transitions forever! Added the Barrel Roll recently to my list. Drilling that is helping with transitions on my good side, but even thinking about doing it the opposite way is SUCH a mental/physical challenge! 😵‍💫
Skating in public...with no skates
I know i'm not the only crazy person here who skates in my shoes throughout the day, right?😂 My favorite is practicing my pivots like im snapping, using a grocery cart at the store lol. What about yall?

Might practice at home
Hi everyone...I'm going to practice at home since it's cold out. What should I work on?

There are a lot of drills and skills that lend themselves to small spaces. When I practice inside, I drill dribbles, downtown, crazy legs, lots of manuals!

What song do you practice with to try to flow? Let's talk

I have a few different playlists: one has tons of disco/70s funk(Brick by Dazz always hits); one is mostly 90s hip hop— I love skating to Tribe; and a soft soul for down tempo flow (Bill Withers, Marvin Gaye). Push It and Fantastic Voyage (Coolio) are irresistible for higher energy skating.
Why did you start skating?
Hey skaters! Curiosity is calling my name. I love asking this question. I will even answer it myself. 💜 My story: When I left school my sophomore year and switched to online, I suddenly found myself without many friends. Honestly i was very lonely. Skating had always been part of my life, but everything changed in 2023 when I discovered rhythm skating. I didn’t expect much from it, but I quickly fell in love- with the movement, the community, and the joy it brought me. Skating became therapeutic, helped me rebuild friendships, and shaped the person I am today. I truly can’t imagine my life without it. Skating fills the void nothing else could.

A friend suggested we get rollerskates during the pandemic and after a couple of tennis court sessions, I was all in! In grade school, I loved skating at the rink and in a friend’s garage (MANY years ago!), and I am lucky enough that muscle memory and the desire to find the flow kicked in. Met a fellow roller skater at a party in my neighborhood and we have never looked back! We have skated together for almost 4 years now, drilling skills, working on things independently, and just finding the groove! Skating gives me momentum and a physical and mental challenge that I have never found in any other hobby. It has truly changed my life! Bonus is the awesome community of roller skaters, both online and IRL.
