My #1 Secret for Teaching Kids (and everyone else!) to Crochet 🤫
I often get asked how I got my kids to learn. My secret? The "Chain Challenge." Don't start with a project. Start with a personal challenge. See who can make the longest "snake". It builds muscle memory without the frustration of turning rows. Teaching someone you love can be... stressful. I work hard to take the stress out of the process.

A great way of teaching.
Hook, Yarn, and Hydration. 💧🧶
Before the first stitch of the week is made, I’m filling up my glass. I’m bringing back my old habit of starting the day with water and electrolytes. It’s a small "reset" that clears the brain fog and helps me focus on the patterns and students ahead of me. If I don't take care of the maker, the making doesn't happen! Cheers to 2nd Grade Math (Homeschool), body/brain reset and an amazing Monday! How are you fueling your Monday? Coffee? Water? A giant to-do list? Let’s hear it! 👇

I've cut out coffee and normal tea entirely, I drink peppermint or berry teas, and water, it's all part of trying to reclaim my health.
The Cloud Carry All Handbag
Yesterday I tackled the tote full of Blanket Yarn scraps. Some small, others half skeins, but none enough for a blanket. I completed these 6 bags.

that's great, love them.
The Scrap Challenge: Turning "Leftovers" into High-Value Designs 🧶✨
Let’s talk about the one thing every maker has in common: The Scrap Mountain. Today, I’m clearing my yarn closest and my mind by diving into one of my many scrap baskets, starting with the blanket yarn. But instead of just "using it up," I’m using this as a design exercise. The Goal: Create high-utility, "light-load" items that solve a problem. On my hook today: 👜The Scrappy Hand Bag: Perfect for practicing color transitions and durability. 📱The "Essential" Phone Pouch: I’m prototyping a design with a built-in pocket for an ID and CC. It’s for those moments when you want to be hands-free and unburdened—the ultimate "mindful" accessory. Why am I sharing this here? Because "scrappy" doesn't have to mean "messy." It’s actually one of the best ways to practice Color Theory and Stitch Consistency without the pressure of a giant project. YOUR CHALLENGE: Go to your scrap stash right now. Pick 3 colors that you think don't go together and try to make a small 4x4 square. Post a photo of your "Unexpected Combo" below! I'll be posting the final products once finished, so stay tuned!

I would love to say that I am joining you in your endeavors to not buy new yarn but I can't. However I do try and make sure that I use the yarn I have, but I do need to have yarn in stock for various projects and made to order items, I like to get them started quickly and of my hook.

@Melissa Steiner I think it goes with the territory.
Ready to carry a cloud? ☁️👜
In this project, we are taking those awkward lengths of blanket yarn—the ones too small for a blanket but too big to toss—and turning them into a high-end handbag. What you’ll learn: How to create a "no-stretch" base with bulky yarn. The trick to seamless color changes (essential for plush fibers!). How to give your bag professional structure. Check out the newest module #The "Cloud Carry-All" Handbag for all the details! Done with your base? Post a photo of your color palette in the comments below! I want to see those textures! 👇

What a great idea to use up all those ends of yarn.
