Encouraging family members
Hey all!! Are any of you struggling to bring your partners/family/friends on this health journey with you? What are ways you try and encourage your family/friends to either engage with you or at least support your health/fitness/nutrition journey?

I moved back in with my parents, sister and niece this past August. My biggest challenges have been healthy eating and working out each day. My 3 yr-old niece joins me when I do yoga which is cute and fun. She's convinced my sister (her mom) to join once or twice. However, i struggle on the days my family wants to go out for lunch as it often overlaps when I exercise due to me working swing shift (though i am working on working out earlier). When it comes to eating, my family have all determined that I am not in charge of food because I eat too much plant based items lol. They do generally support me though and have started eating more balanced in general. I think the main thing for me has been realizing that I can pursue these things and am not being judged for what I want to do and my ability to enjoy an active lifestyle. Plus being joined by my niece is pretty motivational 😃
Enough protein
Hey all! A lot of what I eat is actually pre-planned by someone else currently, just with my job and how food is planned/prepared by staff (I primarily work swing shift but have an odd day shift every couple of weeks). I try to eat what we have at work to encourage the youth to do the same as they are often picky and my boss prefers staff eat with the youth. I also live with my parents/sister currently and they plan most of our lunches. For breakfast I try to eat a couple of eggs/toast or plain greek yogurt w/ fruit & granola. I mostly struggle getting enough protein each day, only getting about half of my goal even with supplements and protein in each meal/snack and often go over on my other goals. Any suggestions or advice?

Tight calf muscles
This week I have been very active . But now I have very tight calf muscles my left is a lot tighter then my right. Is there anything I can do to try and stretch it or any exercise I can do to prevent this in the future

Part of it may be your calves getting used to the exercise your doing if your doing a heavier load then you generally do. I know I get tight calves a lot and I'll stretch them out while lying down using a towel around the ball of the foot and raise that foot up as far as it will go with the towel assistance. Then I'll rotate the foot in and out a bit being careful of the tendons and other ankle structures. Another good one is to the toes of one foot up against something like a wall, curb, bar, ect so they are pointing up and then lean into it. You can also do that same stretch with both feet flat on the ground and one foot more forward than the other while leaning against something and just bend the front knee.
Carbs
I'm finding it really difficult to keep my carbs down. I don't eat meat but I do eat fish. Any ideas how I can reduce the carbs but still have lunches that are cold & easy to carry (for work)?

Have you tried lettuce wraps or seeing if there are high protein breads/tortillas that are lower in carbs? I don't know if you can take shrimp in your lunch depending on how you keep it cold but that could be a way to add protein without the carbs that often come with plant-based protein. I personally add seeds or nuts when I need to add protein but want lower carbs
