One shot.....well maybe 2 or 3 more...
I would never take a quartering to shot in the wild, but my target got turned when I was mowing. That first shot just felt sooooo good, I had a fling a few more down range. You ever had one of them days?

Only the first shot matters....
Today's "One-Shot" group. A little high but still there.

Great memories
I never get tired of reminiscing of my daughter and I shooting together.
Great memories

@Grant Richardson My daughter and I joke about how we should redefine what we call "hunting" to just "disrupting" wildlife because we talk and laugh so much in our stand or blind that we stand absolutely no chance of ever making a harvest.

@Kelsey Holts it doesn't matter if you're using traditional gear or compounds. All that matters is you're out there flinging arrows and having fun.
Sticking with TraditionπŸ¦…

Ha, your question is kind of backwards to me. When I started shooting (not hunting), there was only traditional gear. For a few years, I hunted with my recurve, but once the Bear Whitetail Hunter came out I started hunting with that. Over the years, it seemed using a compound was kind of cheating so one evening, I took my old recurve out and fell back in love with the challenge of traditional hunting.
How much of your deer gets used?
As I write this, please know my goal is only to inspire. Although I've been hunting my whole life, I feel a tinge of sadness whenever I shoot a deer. My family and I only eat venison and wild pig for red meat, so I try and tag out my six deer each season to ensure we have enough meat for the whole year. I have discovered that by using absolutely as much of the deer as possible, I feel like I am honoring the life I have taken. One skill I have mastered is oak tanning each hide and then using that leather to make various items for hunting. Below is a pic of a stalking quiver I recently finished from a buck I took last season. My next project will be a carrying case for one of my take down bows. If anyone ever wants to trade ideas, I'm always open to suggestions.

I've been shooting recurves for 60 years (wow, that sounds old) but it has always been my happy place to shoot my traditional gear.
