PnR Scoring Options……
If you had to dumb it down to 3 scoring options a PG should MUST have in these PnR scenarios what would it be? The scenarios: 1.) WBS vs. drop coverage 2.) WBS vs. blitz coverage 3.) Step Up/ICE 4.) HBS vs. drop coverage 5.) HBS vs. blitz

Lifting and Shooting Mechanics
I have a kid that just started lifting and it is impacting her shot a bit in workouts and games. Best advice on how to manage or advice I can provide for her?

Have her lift still. And i would say make sure she doesn’t sway away from her shooting foundation that she has built. So give her a shooting checklist to keep in mind everytime she shoots the ball (minimal/simple): square to the basket, balance, shooting pocket, hand placement. As long as she keeps those things consistent in her shooting her body will adjust to her being sore from lifting. Since you said she just started lifting I’m gonna assume it is DOMS (delayed onset muscle soreness) which will happen after a few days from lifting. It’ll eventually subside once her body is accustomed to the lifts she is doing.
WHAT WOULD YOU DO ⁉️
Your player shot 40% from three, but their form is WACK... No backspin, poor sequencing, bad balance.

Very minor tweaks to the his/her shot. Go back look at the tape and watch different game situations that they were in where the missed, make note of why they missed and see if their are repeatable mistakes on their misses. Thats where I would start fixing their shot

Smooth
How do you teach a kid to be more smooth and not as robotic?

@Daniel Cooper I agree with Coach a good way to get a feel for the game is just go play pick up where nothing is rehearsed or predetermined it’s all off of reads and reactions. Have the player just figure out things on their own.

Shooting, defense, handles, & finishing in that order. Here is why and this is all from my perspective of HS hoops in the area I live in. I’ll try to keep explanations short Shooting: because most teams around here play zone defense. Shooters gives a different dynamic to an offense regardless if the opponent is playing zone or man defense Defense: Regardless if your HS team is playing man or zone defense you as a player have to be able to lock up on the defensive end and not be a liability. And if you are a player trying to get to the next level then not being able to play defense will limit your minutes. Handles: HS team like to press and then drop back to zone, half court trap. So being able to handle the ball under pressure is crucial. Also refs in my area let players get away with hand checks, bumps, reach ins. Finishing: it is last but it is also important. Just for the sake of what attributes were presented I feel like finishing had to be last due to the fact that how the game has evolved on both ends of the floor. A player can get by in HS without having a deep lay up package IMO.
