From NFL to Medical Device Sales. What It Really Takes
Career transitions into medical device sales are not easy. Most people try. Few actually make it. In this episode of the Medical Sales Podcast, I sat down with Jerry Johnson Jr., a former UCLA and NFL athlete who successfully made the jump into medical device sales and now represents Ambu, a global leader in single use endoscopy. This is a real look at what it takes to break into the industry and perform in a highly competitive space. Jerry breaks down: - What single use endoscopy is and why it is gaining traction - How it compares to traditional reusable scopes - Why clinics are moving toward convenience, efficiency, and patient safety - How to manage a territory and build strong relationships - How to handle objections around image quality and cost - The consistency and discipline required to win long term - If you are thinking about breaking into medical sales or navigating a career transition, this conversation will give you a clearer picture of what the path actually looks like. I can guarantee you if you have a background in professional sports you will get the attention of many surgeons! Joe Messi, Buffalo former pro boxer, for sure has pull with ortho's. We've got a couple former pro hockey players selling orthopedic implants in Buffalo. It's the same story surgeons love to hear about athletic professional success- it's a door opener!
Feedback on my LinkedIn profile
Good evening everyone, I have updated my LinkedIn to get more attention from medical sales recruiters. Can you all please give me any feedback or advice on what I can do to edit or how my LinkedIn profile looks? All advice is helpful. I will drop the link below, thank you! https://www.linkedin.com/in/corlan-taylor-8329841b9?utm_source=share&utm_campaign=share_via&utm_content=profile&utm_medium=ios_app

I assume if you're a sheriff you've had exposure to violence trauma sick people etc. If you reference some of those experiences it may broaden your experience to hiring managers.

I'd make references to that exposure because it shows you've personally dealt with traumatic, serious situations that most people/reps have not experienced.

Elevator pitch was not bad, good summary of skills. I'd suggest to be a bit more specific as to what area you're looking to enter, ie, trauma, total joints, extremities, spine...because there are many options, focusing on a specific area should focus you to a specific line or company.

Trying to understand what your goal is in this 'elevator' pitch. Nice summary of your background, but what's your goal if you actually gave this pitch in an elevator?

Watched 2nd video, better 'summary' as to why, how you'd be good med sales rep. Don't doubt you would be good in the OR, especially if trauma experienced...

Per Symyra's comment, I'd condense the content a bit. LOTS of valuable info but a bit of a novel of your career. I believe the LinkedIn profile is/should be a bit different from a resume.
