Everyone wants medical device sales. Most people are ignoring the easiest door into it. I sat down with Shawn Mertes to talk about one of the most underrated entry points in medical sales. DME and acute care. Shawn went from respiratory therapist to territory roles, clinical specialist, and now regional sales manager at a smaller distributor. Personal Narrative Draft
Over the past three years, I have worked across multiple sales roles where I consistently exceeded quotas and built long term client relationships. I am driven by problem solving and I am most motivated when the work I am doing has a real and measurable impact. A mentor in medical sales once told me, “If you love solving problems and helping people, this is the field for you,” and that conversation was a turning point in how I thought about my career. With my sales background, strong relationship building skills, and confidence presenting to decision makers, I am confident I can be successful in medical sales.
