OUCH!!! OUCH!!! OUCH!!!!
Ok! Where are my 40 plus members??? I was at the rink last Friday and stopped to help a little girl get up...long came two other teen girls behind me and I tumbled over. I didn't think anything of it. i got up, helped the three little girls up, and I kept skating. Finished the session, then the next day came!!! Oh my my my... it took my all week to recover! Lol... it hurts a lot more and a lot longer after "a little tumble" . My goodness... I have muscles that I did not know existed!!! Good news: nothing is broken šŸ˜€ I'm back at it tonight 🤪

Yeah, I took a spill on Wednesday and didn’t realize Apple Watch had a fall detection feature on it. Helmets are no longer optional especially when practicing by myself and considering buying one to keep in the car. šŸ¤¦šŸ¾ā€ā™€ļø

And I kinda feel sorry not sorry for riding past kids who fall at the rink…you are a kind soul to do that——I’m not a monster, though. I will look concerned—but rarely am I stopping on that floor…
Atlanta Instructors
Are there any instructors for adult beginners in Atlanta, GA? I haven't skated in over 40 years!! (Yes...40). I'd really like to start again. Please and thank you!

@Blair Donohue what a cool video. Thanks for sharing. I look forward to leveling up and going to skate rinks across the country to see these different styles in person

We had a great call going over some of what I consider to be, the fundamentals of roller skating. I felt the need to explain the fundamentals because it's what I teach every week in all my beginner classes, and it applies to even the more advanced skills skaters are trying to develop. I thought this would be useful for the most amount of people. I focus on three main concepts in this lesson, which are: - Edges - Weight distribution - Weight transfer from one foot to the other When you understand some of these key concepts, then you start to understand what you're doing with your body or what someone else is doing when you're watching and trying to learn from someone else. That helps you focus and duplicate more effectively. I give examples for beginner levels and advanced levels, and some drills on how to practice it and explanations on understanding it. Tell me what y'all think.

@Carmen Small Honestly, it’s whenever the spirit hits him. This video has a ton of value and I keep coming back to it and to the notes I took. I’d like to unlock two foot pivots.
Skate Maintenance Routine
I have two pairs of skates, and I’m noticing sounds, feelings and wobbles. My new skate wheels are starting to get some dirt on them and my cannonball feels a little funky. Curious: - How often do you rotate YOUR wheels? - Do you check your skates before or after each session? What are you looking for? - Are there signs that you need to clean or lube your bearings? How long does this process usually take? - Do you plan ahead when it’s time clean to ensure you’re ready to roll when it’s time? - What tools do you swear by/consider must have? (I own an Y tool, but considering a bearing puller/cleaning set)
Off-Skate Work
I saw a post earlier and there were a couple people mentioning the importance of ā€œoff-skateā€ routines- I like to work on eagle in both directions against a wall to help the flexies and stretch- what are some things y’all are doing off-skate that is proving helpful when you get back in skates?!
