@Isabel Athina Mitzen ok cool! It’s about 3 and a half for me. I think I will get some shirts printed with Lee Lee on the back. So if you see me, holla!
Penny for your thoughts
I'm currently taking a skate instructor course. May I ask you 3 questions? <If "yes" proceed to next step> 👇🏻 1. What frustrates you most about skating? 2. What skill do you wish you had? 3. What would make you feel more confident?

1. That I don’t have anyone to skate and practice with. And no clear direction on what I should be working on. Basically that I am winging it and learning little pieces here and there. Also that I have so much to learn, like I am not progressing. 2. I wish I was able to do pivots smoothly, 2 foot and especially one foot pivots. 3. I think this answer goes back to number 1. I would feel more confident if I was in a structured class and had someone there to actually see what I am doing, show me how it’s done, correct my form and possibly hold my hand as needed.

@Paula Pride I just re-read your question too 😂 So if you are going to be an instructor, can I also mention that it’s frustrating to keep going over the same lesson every week. Like I go on Saturdays and we just keep doing the same thing over and over. I think classes should at least be progressive and maybe split lessons for beginners vs intermediate. I wouldn’t mind like a refresher from the week prior but that’s my biggest frustration with the class I’m in.

Welcome!! How long did you skate at first? And how long had you been stopped?
How long did it take you guys to…
Get your crossovers perfected? Okay. So I was attempting to do crossovers in a circle. Discovered that I can’t do it. 😩 But the journey continues. Of course I share in my bloopers and ugly learning process.

Crossovers I can do. Idk how long it took to feel comfortable though. The thing is you have to lean into it more. When you lean, it gives your other leg the space to cross over without hitting your other skate. And in order to trust your lean, you need to feel as comfortable as possible on one foot because for a hot second you are gonna be on one leg on an outside edge as you pick the other up. I do leg lifts and glide on one foot every single session whether at the rink or practice to get as comfortable as possible. So: one leg balance, lean into your crossover, do some stationary crossovers on like a yoga pad or something to feel where your feet should go. And I know this skating thing can be scary but you really should be looking forward and not down. I promise once you get the feel, you will be able to crossover without even thinking about it.
Plate preferences
Do you guys have a preference and what’s your current setup?

I’m currently on Roll Line Mistral’s. I have some Atom Falcon Pilots on my outdoor skates and I like them too but I just don’t use those skates very often.
